**Job Description**:
**OVERVIEW**

The Reporter works with the APAC digital editorial team to produce stories using a content management system, pitch story ideas, and report and write original news stories for a fast-paced, business and financial news website.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Write business and financial news for the Asia-Pacific region, and specifically Southeast Asia businesses, sectors and macro-economy stories
- Write spot news, features and trends stories for technology, including chip stocks, crypto and blockchain, as well as start-ups and venture capital funding
- Write fast and accurate business news including breaking news; able to perform well in a fast-paced news environment and prioritize a variety of tasks while operating under tight deadlines
- Pitch, report and write news and analysis with a focus on company-specific stocks or sectors, businesses and macroeconomics or financial markets
- Adeptly research on financial markets and economics data for story ideas and content creation
- Closely monitor trends in stocks, technology, trade and global politics as they impact investors and businesses

**Qualifications**:
**SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS**
- Seasoned reporter with prior experience writing for a wire service, news publication or business news website preferred
- Experience covering financial news in China, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea would be advantageous
- In-depth knowledge of financial markets, business, geopolitical and economic news
- Experience working with digital media and content management systems
- Passion for news-writing; possess strong news sense
- Familiar with data sources for research purposes; able to distinguish between primary and secondary sources
- Demonstrable experience in writing stories with a business, markets or economics focus on a daily basis
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to foster good relations with colleagues as well as contacts and sources for scoops and exclusive stories
- Fluent in written and spoken English is essential; fluency in at least one Asian language would be advantageous
- Meticulous with an eye for detail; able to write clean, coherent and accurate copy, even during breaking news situations and under extreme time pressure
- Proactive and takes initiative to follow up on story ideas and pitch new stories
- Able to prioritize a wide range of tasks while operating under tight deadlines.
- A clear understanding of CNBC’s editorial and programming priorities
- Willing to learn and take on new tasks or assume new responsibilities as required; flexible and able to adapt to CNBC’s culture
- Exhibit a readiness and adaptability to expand into other media, including TV, podcasts, digital video and charts or graphics
- Self-starter with the ability to make decisions quickly in a fast-paced environment
- A flexible attitude to working different shifts or hours occasionally when required.
- Relevant university degree required
