**OVERVIEW**
The ideal Digital News Assistant is an individual with a proven track record of writing accurate and incisive business stories. He/she will write digital copy based on taped and live CNBC TV interviews carried out primarily in the Middle East. The Digital News Assistant will be an integral part of a cross-platform team that interviews power players from regional politics and business. He/she will also contribute to Asia-Pacific team coverage as required.**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Work efficiently with a diverse, seasoned CNBC team that's reporting from multiple locations the Middle East, and sometimes beyond the Middle East.
- File stories within a content management system to editors and copyeditors in London and Singapore, with ultimate approval for stories lying with International digital managing editor.
- As time permits, the writer may create broader stories based on TV interviews combined with secondary information such as financial events, analysts' reports and independent interviews.
- The writer will support the Singapore-based team by covering Asia-focused stories on an as-needed basis.

**Qualifications/Requirements**
- SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS- An interest in Middle East economy and politics, the oil and natural gas industries, and the region's ever-shifting business and finance landscapes. Special familiarity with the Gulf states is a plus.
- Experience as a reporter in a fast-paced news environment, preferably with a wire service or an online news organization.
- Excellent writing ability and news instincts, paired with exceptional communications and reporting skills.
- Strong time-management and the ability to multitask are necessary to juggle multiple stories under tight deadlines.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Good knowledge of social media and experience working on content management systems is preferred.
- Some level of familiarity with Arabic would be advantageous.
- Comfortable with flexible, shift work associated with a 24-hour news operation, including intermittent weekends.
