Overview:

- Waters Corporation is currently seeking a Trade Compliance Specialist APAC to join our organization.

Based in Singapore, the specialist will support the region’s Global Trade Compliance (GTC) initiatives by helping develop and maintain the trade compliance program. This includes adherence to applicable APAC, US and EU laws and regulations pertaining to international trade as well as ensuring compliance with Waters Corporate policies.

**Responsibilities**:

- Act as liaison to the APAC teams for export control requirements including screening, classification, and license management.
- Assist local subsidiaries interface with customs and other government agencies as well as external vendors including customs brokers to ensure compliant import and export to and from Waters APAC’s region.
- Assist in developing an appropriate audit plan regarding import and export controls and support internal and external audits and assessments.
- Conduct periodic transactional monitoring and procedural review to identify compliance risks and optimization opportunities through analysis of import/export declaration data and help drive customs broker import and export entry accuracy.
- Work with team to initiate and deploy activities, and collaborate with supply chain, logistics, regulatory, procurement, sales, finance, legal and other business teams on cross-function projects.
- Identify duty remediation opportunities (reduction of duties and GST costs).
- Support system database maintenance and alignment such as HS code information, Export control code, Country of Origin information.
- Monitor relevant trade compliance developments affecting the APAC region and provide practical advice to the business.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s in Business, Logistics, or related field. Minimum of 5 years of Trade/Logistics experience required.
- Strong working knowledge of APAC import & export trade regulations and customs requirements.
- Experience in import/export administration including HS classification, Customs valuation, Customs clearance, Country of Origin.
- Familiarity with Export screening of business partners against Restricted party lists.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, preferably SAP and GTS.
- Ability to identify and propose corrective actions to resolve import and export issues as they relate to internal systems, processes, customer, suppliers, and service providers.
- Self-starter with demonstrated ability to work independently.
- Ability to work with cross functional (including procurement, finance, tax, marketing, logistics, order management and engineering) and cross-cultural teams located in different time zones.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Experience with analyzing and interpreting data and driving process improvement.
- Working knowledge of regional and local classification practices, licensing and sanctions.
