DESIGNATION : Senior Specialist (Arboriculture)

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Senior Specialist (Arboriculture), you are expected to possess excellent management, supervisory, communication and leadership skills as well as the enthusiasm to lead a team of diverse professional arborists to manage all the trees (which shall include all palms) within the Gardens to drive our core business as a leading horticultural attraction with sound arboriculture management practices.

**Responsibilities**:

- Formulate a tree management strategy for the Gardens to ensure their optimal health and uphold professional arboriculture maintenance standards
- Identify trees with high risk, that pose a hazard risk or in high pedestrian traffic zones for inspection as well as put up relevant and comprehensive tree inspection reports with recommendations for follow up where necessary
- Review the tree inspection regimes and prescribe suitable scheduled inspections with specific emphasis on thorough inspection of key indicator plants, signature trees, mature specimens above 1-metre girth and species with high failure rates
- Prescribe appropriate maintenance regimes and implement proper pruning techniques to ensure the trees aesthetical form and good growth
- Maintain proper records and documentation of trees i.e. inspections, tree felling
- Leverage on innovation, digital and technological advancements to drive efficiency
- Impart knowledge to and train arboriculture staff on first and second level inspections, including handling of arboriculture equipment e.g. resistograph, Picus Sonic Tomograph

QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in Forestry, Horticulture, Botany, Plant Science or equivalent
- At least 10 years of experience as a professional and practicing International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist
- Proven competence in arboriculture management through track records
- Excellent diagnostic skills in plant and tree health
- Ability to climb and prune trees as a certified Tree Climber is a plus
- Keen interest to continuously upgrade and attend professional arboriculture training
