
Packaging Development Manager

Reporting directly to the R&D Director for the AMEA region, you will be responsible for driving growth for the Snacks portfolio by creating common technology platforms & developmental roadmaps for delivering consumer-winning packaging innovation and optimizing existing packaging in terms of consumer preference, operational performance, efficiency, quality, sustainability and cost.
**HERE’S A TASTE OF WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING**
- Creating packaging roadmaps for BU’s for driving differentiation as well as efficiency in snacks space.
- Managing the development of multiple packaging projects and programmes. Assigned projects will include review of relevant consumer insights, package design options, understanding of existing capabilities; internal and external, product quality, sensory** **and supply chain requirements.
- Proactively delivering packaging technology, systems and best practices to support marketing strategies and enhance brand presence & positioning through a thorough understanding of the business and consumer needs.
- Identifying, developing and implementing packaging innovation opportunities to drive and support the innovation agenda, including leading the development of packaging for new products. Lead packaging innovation through project phases that include development and commercialization activities within the following project progression: Production Scale-up, Production Testing, and Production Start-up. Interacting with Developers/Food Technologist/Engineering/Operations to define/resolve production issues.
- Formulate packaging records for products according to new product development and actual production, and design training. Develop packaging specifications for all new packages developed.
- Proactively seek opportunities to maximize efficient use of current corporate assets for the manufacture of new and existing food products’ packaging. This includes recommendations for new package sourcing.
- Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with key suppliers, to leverage their knowledge and capability, and keep abreast of developments in the packaging industry. Formulating supplier audit standards and leading a detailed analysis of the quality and price of every packaging material.
**YOUR RECIPE FOR SUCCESS**
- Degree qualified with at least 10 years’ experience in the FMCG packaging industry, preferably with food industry experience.
- Knowledge and experience in packaging materials, packaging design, packaging equipment, raw materials, quality control, production management, COGS calculations, artwork
- Knowledge of food-packaging interactions, sensory evaluation and consumer tests, packaging regulations, understanding of experimental design methodologies
- Ability to effectively business partner with key stakeholders both locally and internationally
- Strong technical, analytical and project management skills. High attention to detail and strategic thinking ability.
- Ability to demonstrate innovative and creative approaches to problem solving and new design implementation.
- Ability to travel regularly.
