**About Us**

As a Senior Staff Engineer for Rockwell Automation, you will have the opportunity to design and develop industry-leading commercial software known for its innovation and usability.

A primary responsibility of this position is to design, implement, and test timely complex software features and solutions for our customers while playing an active role in all aspects of agile development. This position will allow you to collaborate with multiple global cross-functional teams to create technology roadmap to evolve RA products with industry and technology trends, and may also provide an opportunity to be the technical lead of an agile development team.

**Essential Functions**
- Contributes to or develops architectural designs and independently develops complex system designs that meet the requirements. Considers tradeoffs between requirements, speed, cost and reliability in the choice of a design approach.
- Collaborates closely with business and relevant engineering disciplines to address medium to long term constraints, conducts feasibility analysis and develops proof-of-concept to verify suitability of new architecture or new technologies
- May function as a technical lead of a large development team or lead technical aspects of a multi-team project.
- Leads or participates in reviews of architecture, documents, designs, code, test cases and user documentation
- Leads or participates in design and development of functionality that resides within the product
- Determines the origin and root cause of complicated anomalies that may affect multiple subsystems or require architectural enhancements
- Applies secure code design and development best practices to the product
- Takes the lead on identifying and recommending capability improvements in software development practices and development tools
- Thinks outside the box and is willing to research and explore new avenues to overcome obstacles by utilizing the latest technologies and standards. May act as a go-to person for a technology, software methodology or other area of expertise.
- Clearly communicates and conveys design concepts, both verbally and in writing
- Able to learn and understand complex control system concepts

**Minimum Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- Typically requires a minimum of fifteen years of experience in a software product development environment
- A minimum of five years of experience as technical lead or product architect in a medium-sized team

**Desired Qualifications**
- Direct experience with designing and implementing large scale software product with web and cloud technologies
- Strong knowledge of object-oriented design principles and common design patterns
- Direct experience with the Industrial Automation industry
- Direct experience testing highly integrated software products
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Direct experience collaborating with local and global technical development teams
