Roles & Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly driven research scientist to be part of a multi-disciplinary team involved in discovery of enzymes involved in biosynthesis of modified nucleotides and nucleic acids.

**JOB DESCRIPTION**

The research scientist will:

- Discover biosynthetic pathways for noncanonical nucleotides and DNA bases.
- Culture target bacteria and bacteriophages.
- Identify and clone suitable starting genes.
- Recombinantly produce and characterize target enzymes.
- Develop in vitro assays to determine the activities of the enzymes.
- Develop bacterial strains for noncanonical plasmid DNA synthesis.

The research scientist will also participate in the development of project strategy and communicate results within a multi-disciplinary team.

- Experience in cloning and protein purification will be an advantage.
- Ability to multitask and enjoy taking responsibility for producing excellent results.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication in oral and written English.
- Strong documentation and organization skills.
- Full training in all aspects of the position will be given.
