Job Description:

The National University of Singapore's School of Medicine invites applications for a Senior Research Fellow/Research Fellow position in the Metabolic Liver Disease Lab.

This role involves exploring functional genomic methods to understand metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD).

Candidates will have the opportunity to collaborate with various teams across the school, including pathologists, hepatologists, and data scientists.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Principal Investigator in coordinating and leading multiple wet lab projects, proposing research directions, and meeting key project milestones.
  • Facilitate research team development, optimization, and validation of in vitro mammalian cell-based assays related to metabolic diseases.
  • Perform data analysis, ensure data validity and reliability, maintain accurate records, and present findings to colleagues.
  • Assist the Principal Investigator with writing ethics/grant applications.
  • Organize and publish research findings in high-impact academic journals.
Qualifications:
  • A PhD with 3 years of relevant post-doctoral experience is required.
  • Understanding of MAFLD, obesity, and T2D molecular/cellular basis is desired.
  • Experience in handling 2D and 3D cell cultures is essential.
  • Molecular Biology skills, including RNA/protein extraction, qPCR, western blotting, and IF, are necessary.
  • Familiarity with gene perturbation tools such as siRNA, shRNA, and CRISPR/Cas9 is a strong plus.
  • Experience working with murine models is beneficial.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in English are required.
  • Highly organized and skilled in working independently to solve experimental problems.
  • Ability to oversee research directions for multiple projects and work in a multidisciplinary team.
