Tooling Engineer

**Who We Are**

**Job Purpose**:
Provide facilitation in the areas of Toolroom Activities, mold maintenance & repair and general machining as well as responsible for outsourcing strategies and governance, implement new programs and operational day-to-day tasks.

He/She is expected to participate actively as a Resource Team leader in facilitating and coaching the Tooling team to achieve the operational indicators of Mold cavity utilization (CU) target, quality, down time, mold spares spending etc.

**Responsibilities**:

- Works closely in conjunction with other mold suppliers in order to coordinate the building of said molds.
- Mold performance and Molding defects analysis and provide guidance to toolmakers and molding process team and provide solution to improve the Mold cavitation (CU) and molded components quality
- Knowledge on Molding validation process and provide full tooling supports on steel tweaking process for molding validation process
- Good understanding on fit and tolerances and background of machining process like EDM, wire cut, CNC milling and welding process
- Good knowledge and hands on experience on measuring equipment like CMM, Smart scope, gauges and basic measuring equipment.
- Negotiate and implement contractual agreements with suppliers within the parameters set by the Corporate Strategic Purchasing
- Investigate chronic and major molding machine/process problems and implement corrective/preventive actions.
- Develop and implement improvement programs to enhance performance of molding machine/process with regard to efficiency, waste product quality and cavity utilization.
- Review all molding first piece qualification results and take necessary corrective actions which include mold deviation if required.
- Coach and facilitate the Toolroom Team to provide technical support to the Department and achieve Team goals.
- Implement training program to enhance technical competency of the molding PT/TS and toolmakers. Develop overall plan to build up technical strength of the molding and toolroom operation.
- Participate actively in the Resource Team to meet overall departmental goals.
- Develop and implement Mold defect solution manual for tooling operations.
- Oversee Toolroom operation and ensure effective supports are provided to the Plant with regards to machining, material selection, tooling design, mold changeover/maintenance etc.
- Manage expenses for Toolroom, mold/die repair, molding machine enhancement/spare parts to meet Budget.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance program for Mold/Presses to ensure efficiency and smooth running of molding operation.
- Review all relevant SOP's and ensure strict compliance toolroom/molding operation to ISO and CE Mark Requirements.
- Participate in project to install/commission new equipment and evaluate/qualify/validate new or alternative processes and materials.

**Our Requirements**:

- Degree in Mechanical / Precision Engineering discipline with 3 years experience in mold making environment
- Diploma holder with 5 year's experience in mold making environment
- Good working experience with high volume manufacturing of injection molded plastic parts
- Good knowledge on mold drawings 3D & 2D
