**What the role is**
- The jobholder will play a key role in enhancing CBRNE Centre of Expertise’s capabilities in biological threat surveillance and detection. He/she will work alongside a team of CBRNE scientists to research, develop and validate new techniques and technologies in biological agents’ characterisation and identification. He/she will also be involved in the building of a biological agent database to monitor and understand the trends in the effort against rising threat of new emerging agents.

**What you will be working on**
- Analyse and interpret data and prepare reports.
- Develop, optimise, and validate techniques, laboratory protocols, standard operating procedures, and risk assessment documentations.
- Stay current of the latest CBRNE technologies and analytical trends.
- Collaborate closely with key stakeholders to identify new requirements in the areas of

biological threat detection, surveillance, and preparedness.
- Present at local and international fora such as conferences, seminars, and meetings.
- Perform laboratory administrative (e.g., procurement, lab and equipment maintenance, inventory) and other additional duties as required or assigned by supervisors.

**What we are looking for**
- Applicants shall mínimally have a Degree/ Master in Bioinformatics or Biological Sciences or a related science discipline, and preferably a minimum of three (03) years of relevant industry or research experience.
- Experience with molecular work, sequencing, and genetic data analysis are preferred.
- Passionate in the pursuit of scientific innovations that are aligned with HTX’s mission.
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively to ensure that deliverables are met in a timely manner.
- An independent worker as well as a strong team player who can work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and technology providers.
- Strong sense of responsibility, self-motivated, high initiative, meticulous and possess strong critical thinking skills.
- Open to experiment and use of Machine learning, AI Algo and coding in the course of work
- Possess strong written, technical, and oral communication skills.
- Able to respond to operational needs outside office hours, as and when required.

All new hires are appointed on a two-year contract in the first instance and will be assessed and considered for permanent tenure over time, based on performance.
