The senior pharmacist is to ensure that safe, efficient and timely distribution of drugs is achieved. He/she is to co-ordinate activities within a section to be in line with the objectives of the pharmacy department.
- Reviews written order form to determine the drug needs of the patient, ensuring that overdoses have not been prescribed, that no toxic reactions will result from administration to the patient and that all drug orders are specific (contact physicians as necessary to review ambiguous or illegible prescriptions).
- Fills prescriptions as ordered by attending physician and explains direction for prescription use to patients.
- Answers drug enquires and provides information to other health professionals

**Requirements**:

- Possesses Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited college of Pharmacy.
- Registered with the Singapore Pharmacy Council.
- Post graduate qualifications relevant to the practice of hospital pharmacy.
- Experience in hospital pharmacy desirable but not critical.
- Possesses strong communication and supervisory skills.
- Proven ability to manage pharmacy operations over a period of at least 12 months.
- Possesses leadership qualities.
- Ability to work with pharmacy, medical, nursing and other hospital personnel.
- Active in research in various aspects of the pharmacy profession.
- Total commitment to excellence in the practice of pharmacy profession as demonstrated by significant contributions to advancement of the profession both within and outside AH
