You will lead an established Cell Culture Development team within Development Services based in Lonza Biologics Singapore, focusing on cell line and process development alongside process characterization and technology transfer activities. The Development Services group is responsible for the development and characterization of manufacturing processes used for the production of novel therapeutic recombinant proteins for Lonza’s global client base. The team are also expected to provide sound scientific expertise to support troubleshooting activities at both laboratory and manufacturing scale.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Lead a team of ~8 FTEs and should have a demonstrated track record and genuine interest in developing people and leading technical teams.
- The incumbent should also be a technical expert in one or more areas of upstream process development (Cell Line Construction, upstream process development/characterization, technology transfer and scale up/down).
- Support departmental management to ensure sufficient resources (people/skill sets/equipment) are available to deliver projects to agreed timelines and budgets.
- Actively involve in communication delivered by the team to ensure an outstanding customer experience (written reports, teleconferences, face-to-face meetings).
- Demonstrate active and healthy collaboration with other departments locally and in Lonza’s global network to ensure consistency in technical approach.
- The team lead will provide coaching, mentoring and training for team members in the necessary scientific critique, technical skills, knowledge and capability to achieve the department’s objectives.

- Demonstrate flexibility to support continuous improvement activities within the team / department.
- Hands-on laboratory work may be required in mammalian cell culture processes which includes Cell Line Development (routine cell culture, FACS, automation platforms); Process Development (ambr15 miniaturized bioreactors, 10L laboratory scale bioreactors); Process Characterization (ambr250 miniaturized bioreactors, 10L laboratory scale bioreactors).

**Key requirements**:

- Degree/PhD in a relevant Science field or Equivalent with significant relevant industrial work experience.
- Minimum 2+ years of demonstrated experience in managing and developing high performing teams.
- Demonstrate scientific knowledge and deep understanding in one or more areas of mammalian upstream process development (cell line development, process development, technology transfer, process characterization)
- Experience in planning capabilities for Biologics License Application (BLA) related work will be preferred.
- Understanding cGMP regulations will be an advantage.
- Demonstrate critical thinking, problem solving, teamworking skills and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment with stakeholders from various nationalities.
