**JOB SCOPE**

Job Responsibilities

The Executive Director of Design, Architecture is a senior level manager responsible for the overall project design development and realization, as well as directing external Design Architects and internal Architectural Design Managers, ensuring that design intent is ultimately in line with Sand’s Project Excellence and brand positioning. Additionally, the Executive Director of Design will serve as the primary Architectural Design interface amongst internal design stakeholders including Las Vegas Sands Design & Planning and Sands Interior Design Global Teams (Las Vegas and Asia based teams).

Essential Duties:
Pre-Design
- Liaise with Operations Planning and Operational Executives to understand, inform, and rationalize the architectural design.
- Liaise with Design & Planning to ensure that architectural design priorities and preferences are appropriately established and understood by the design team.
- Assist with creation and iterative updates of Sands architectural design standards applicable to MBS.
- Inform Design Architects’ Basis of Design and Pre-Concept documentation to ensure design parameters are adequately expressed and this documentation sets the appropriate baseline for the Cost Plan and development of the Design throughout all subsequent design phases.
- Liaise with internal Interior Design teams to ensure Design Briefs effecting architectural expression are understood and communicated to Design Architects.

Design and Documentation
- Primary Lead in the overall project-wide architectural design effort, interfacing with MBS internal Delivery Team and contractors to implement effective design solutions.
- Primary Lead in coordinating efforts to assemble architectural design packages and presentations to MBS/LVS Senior Executives, as well as design reviews required by Statutory Authorities.
- Primary interface for Design Architects and MBS/LVS Design & Planning in resolving issues pertaining to space planning, architectural aesthetics, and architectural materials / systems.
- Primary Lead in iterative Design review efforts, and responsible for ensuring comments are clearly communicated to the Design Team
- Primary Lead in undertaking and overseeing internal design study efforts, including internal optioneering and test fit reviews with MBS Operations and Executives
- Liaise with Operations Planning and Operational Executives to coordinate functional items within the project and resolve design issues that impact operational objectives
- Provide support to the Delivery Team on all Architectural design related matters.

Construction Administration
- To provide support to the Delivery Team on all on-site design issues.
- Liaise with Design Architects to document, review, and approve visual mock-ups, control samples, first of types, and similar.
- Provide periodic inspections on site. Assistance to the Delivery Team advising on the quality and completeness of works during quality check of site works.
- Attend weekly meetings as necessary and attend to regular site visits to ensure appropriate quality of the works and that design intent is maintained.

Job Requirements
- Minimum 15 year’s working experience in Architectural Design.
- Excellent communications and leadership / people management skills.
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
- Required skill(s): design development, design coordination, construction administration.
- Extensive experience implementing Architectural Design processes, including driving current consultants’ practices related to project scope and abilities.
- Experience with managing teams and complex projects, including design team organizational structures and resources.
- Experience with broad, complex teams delivering projects for large-scale commercial buildings.
- Experience managing internationally recognized Design Firms as an Owner’s representative.
- Experience managing global projects requiring cross-cultural sensitivities and proven flexibility to adapt to regional design standards and construction methodologies.
- Background of leadership roles in internationally recognized Design Firms preferred, but not critical.
- Experience in large-scale Integrated Resorts and/or Regulated Casino Environments is preferred, but not critical.
