**What can you expect?**

The role of Assistant Counsel LCPA, Asia is based in Singapore. Reporting to the Associate General Counsel for Marsh Asia (based in Singapore), the Assistant Counsel will be expected to work collaboratively with colleagues in the Legal, Compliance and Public Affairs (LCPA) team to support the Asia Marsh Specialty insurance broking business. The Assistant Counsel will also have regional responsibility for various LCPA areas of focus, including managing regional intellectual property, advising on contractual arrangements with insurers and third party providers and such other roles as directed. The role would commence in late March and would continue until mid-June, with the possibility for extension on a full or part-time basis.

**We will count on you to**:

- Provide analysis and counsel on a range of legal issues, including corporate issues, business structures and models, M&A, property related issues, employment issues, insurance and reinsurance
- Draft, review and negotiate contracts and related documents for the procurement or provision of goods and services, confidentiality of proprietary information, employment, leases of space and equipment, and software licenses
- Collaborate with in-country LCPA colleagues to (i) anticipate and identify legal issues across the region of concern to the Specialty business and developing legal strategies and solutions, often in situations of high risk with limited time for assessing alternatives; and (ii) analyze a broad range of laws and regulations affecting the operations of the Asia Specialty business including those arising from corporate structures and business models
- Assist senior lawyers and other members of the LCPA department on more complex issues as well as with the development of templates
- Engage outside counsel on complex legal issues, and supervising and coordinating all work sent to external law firms
- Review regulations / directives and global / regional policies and explaining their requirements and applicability to Asia Specialty colleagues
- Develop procedures, processes and policies to support the legal and compliance function, in conjunction with all internal and external standards and regulations
- Ensure effective processes exist to address Errors & Omissions (“E&O”) prevention and mitigation. Triaging, investigating, mitigating, and closing E&O claims as well as assisting in reviewing claims history, identifying trends, and developing awareness education to avoid repeatable incidents
- Actively participate on appropriate executive, leadership, and / or operating committees

**What you need to have**:

- Recognized legal qualifications from, and admitted to practice in, a common law jurisdiction
- Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience in a law firm or in-house role
- Prior experience of regulatory advisory work, preferably in insurance or financial services sectors
- Prior experience handling contract reviews, drafting and negotiation
- Prior experience handling employment and litigation matters
- Prior experience dealing with issues in different jurisdictions across Asia
- Excellent drafting and organizational skills
- Ability to analyze complex legal problems quickly and concisely without direct supervision
- Ability to exercise good judgment even in ambiguous situations
