**Roles & Responsibilities**
**Reporting to the Technical Manager, the incumbent will**
Be part of a team responsible for the smooth, efficient & safe operation of all vessels assigned.
Assure, in coordination with the crew, the vessel full reliability at all times in respect of Company policy & requirements and applicable rule and regulations.

Assure, in coordination with the crew, the vessel is full reliability at all times in respect of Company policy & requirements and applicable rule and regulations.
**He/she will**:
monitoring and controlling of the ship’s technical maintenance and certification of assigned vessels.
vessel expenses budget allocated on his role as per PRO-02 procedure.
checking the status of the PMS system in relation to expired planned maintenance and scheduling of works on monthly basis.
controlling appropriate sharing of machinery running hours where machinery redundancy is available.
reporting to the Senior Superintendent and Technical Manager any contingency or vessel structural /machinery failure which comes to his knowledge and may lead into hazardous or risky situation for the crew, the vessel and its cargo.
promptly reporting any major non-budgeted expenses.
coordinating and scheduling vessel class/statutory inspections.
arranging, follow up and reporting technical support of specialized engineers if so necessary in consultation with senior Superintendent.
planning /reporting in cooperation with vessel crew corrective repairs of revealed deficiencies, failures and non-conformities raised from vessel inspection.
participating in the Emergency Group Ashore
examining machinery performance/PMS forms and highlight / report warnings for appropriate action in consultation with Senior Superintendent.
examining bunker/lube oil analysis, and highlight to the vessel nonconformities and recommendations in consultation with Senior Superintendent.
carrying out on board vessel inspection, review undertaken works, examine vessel conditions, report any deficiency and work to be done.
reviewing with tech manager the vessel class status at each new entry, check survey reports entries /data, notify class of any wrong reported information.
preliminary reviewing the intended DD machinery spec related to inside /outside ER machinery in consultation with senior supt.; to arrange/report full DD spec and preliminary tender comparison.
supervising and reporting dry-docking works /substantial repairs, verifying compliance with approved specification, check works reliability, review measurements /readings records, jobs report, review and concur pro-forma invoice.
examining and concurring vessel request of services or materials.
reviewing and concurring service reports.
evaluating and reporting crew performance as per Company policy.
**She / he has to maintain in office following documentation in accordance with company procedures:
record of maintenance and work carried out.
track records of deficiencies /failure and non-conformity follow up.
updated list of work to be done.
on board supt inspection report.
updated list of vessel coating assessment of cargo, ballast, and void compartments.
reports and records of Class
updated Class survey status and Flag Administration certificates status.
analysis report.
records /of dry-docking works and measurements.
copy of services report
updated list of vessel drawings and equipment maker instruction.
updated ship’s certificates in hard copy.
copy of in/out correspondence related to each vessel.
**She / He is authorized to.
inspecting the vessel, carrying out checks and necessary testing.
assigning tasks to officers and master on activity to be undertaken by crew staff while vessel at dry-dock.
assigning task to vessel Master /CE while vessel in operation.
approving vessel cash expenses for prompt repair /purchase.
**Requirements and work experiences
Minimum one-year documented experience as Chief Engineer and 1 to 2 (two) years as experience as technical superintendent of any reputed shipping company. Experience on livestock vessels is an added advantage and is not a requirement. Wide experience on 4 stroke engines of various make is also an important factor of consideration.
**Technical Skills**
**IBC, IMDG, BC Code**: Knowledge of Codes operational and tech overview
**Environment**: Knowledge of environmental awareness
**ISM Code**: Knowledge of ISM Code
**Port State Control**: Knowledge of Port State Control common deficiencies
**Class and Statutory**: Knowledge of classification and statutory requirement
**Equipment**: Knowledge of tanker/cargo vessel plant equipment (i.e. IGS inert gas, Framo Ballast & Cargo Systems, cargo cranes, hatch covers)
**Inspections and repairs**: Knowledge of hull structure inspection and damage and coating repair
