Senior Technical Program Manager

As the Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) of the Data Science & Engineering team, you will plan, execute and deliver development of data products and solutions that sit atop vast datasets gathered by retail stores, restaurants, banks, and other consumer-focused companies. The challenge will be to deliver scalable high-performance products, through cutting-edge machine learning techniques including deep learning, and intuitive workflows that allow our users to derive insights from big data that in turn drive their businesses with a keen eye for data privacy. You will have the opportunity to create high
- performance analytic solutions based on data sets measured in the billions of transactions and front-end visualizations to unleash the value of big data.

As a TPM, you will:

- Plan, execute, and deliver projects from inception to completion related to a technology, product, or program
- Describe, maintain and document an integrated plan that accounts for internal/external dependencies, differing delivery approaches, numerous constraints, and contingency for unplanned delays
- Secure resources, scopes efforts, outlines priorities and establishes delivery milestones
- Proactively manage the end-to-end delivery of modelling and engineering work through the organization and all dependent organizations, reporting out progress, ensuring dependencies are covered, overseeing the gaps between teams, processes, and systems, while removing all blocking issues leading to a successful delivery. Accelerates progress by driving crisp, timely decisions
- Looked to as first point of contact for projects. Can communicate with confidence to levels up. Is the source of truth for status. Transforms raw thoughts into clear and concise communications. Provides right information and associated data about the state of the project to the right audience at the right time. Runs effective meetings
- Has experience in and understands industry technologies. Understands their program or product. Sufficient depth/credibility to be effective with teams they work with. Can competently represent team’s services to stakeholders and other teams. May need to bring developers or SMEs to meetings to talk details
- Define program/product strategy and delivers independently while seeking to incorporate feedback/direction from peers/managers
- Nurture good working relationships with data scientists, engineers, managers, and peers
- Optimize previously defined approaches for a team or limited area. Demonstrate improvements using data. Design and utilize best practices (i.e. retrospectives, staff meetings, status meetings) to describe and drive continuous improvements
- Recognize discordant views and take part in constructive dialog to resolve them
- Maintain detailed and clear documentations
- Provide excellent leadership of team members through technical and non-technical mentoring and superior project management over the course of multiple complex assignments
- Prior experience in working in a data science product development role with knowledge in scaling up analytics, machine learning (deep learning) data products

- Proficient with Agile/Scrum/Kanban delivery
- Good to have - knowledge/proficiency with Hadoop big data tools (Hive, Impala, Spark)
