**Position Purpose**

Responsible for working with senior management to coordinate and document the strategic planning process for the organization. Facilitates the deployment and implementation of the strategic plan, assists in the development of tactical and operational plans as needed. Monitors and reports on progress as indicated. At this level, the position has a direct contribution to the development of business and/or functional strategies and responsibility for managing multiple teams of professionals.

**Key Responsibility Areas**
- Oversees the overall design, development, and communication of planning activities that ensure market competitiveness and organizational excellence.
- Develops a planning model that supports the organization's mission and values based on an internal and external needs assessment.
- Oversees the monitoring of the external environment and identifies opportunities to fulfill the corporate strategy.
- Establishes priorities for planning activities across all divisions, business units, and functions.
- Serves as strategic liaison for key organizational initiatives between all divisions and their customers.
- Assesses current models of business operations and develops appropriate new models. Participates in policy development.
- In addition, this role will be responsible for leading the following functions: _
- Commercial Excellence, including sales strategy, commercial insights and analytics
- Sales Force Effectiveness, including sales training
- Commercial Operations including sales operations, consignment and SLOB management
- Market Access and Strategic Partnerships
- Technical & Customer Service for Surgical Vision
- Professional Education/Development

**Qualifications**:
**Skills, Knowledge and Experience**
- Generally requires 10-12 years related experience of successful commercial management, such as marketing, sales and business development.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with all relevant stakeholders like customers, partners, suppliers and employees, driving collaboration across multiple functions, teams and geographies.
- Have demonstrated leadership experience in being able to inspire and motivate people to drive the business forward and achieve your goals.
- Strong organizational skills with a keen eye for details
- Proven ability to deliver results in challenging and complex environments
- Leadership experience in a P&L setting preferred
