Ensure that company policy related to Safety Management Manual (SMS) issues are effectively communicated, implemented and constantly monitored for compliance.
- Advise Managers and Designated Person Ashore (DPA) in writing any information relating to the vessel or crew’s inability to comply with SMS
- Maintain contact with flag, classification societies, shipyard, service providers, manufacturers, industry and trade associations, Government bodies and any other organisation to perform the assigned duties and responsibilities
- Support managers to project realistic operating budget for assigned vessel by considering requirements of Statutory, Flag and Port with justifications to owners and obtain timely approval
- Maintain, monitor and report budgets for all assign vessels and advise managers on regular basis on vessel operation and budgetary performance to ensure budget is within the variables.
- Responsible for planning and execution of all docking activities within the allotted budget
- Carry out periodical vessel inspection and ensure the ships condition and maintenance standards. Prepare report, formulate improvement plan and follow up with the vessels
- Monitor survey and certification status and ensure inspections/surveys are arranged in time to maintain validity
- Plan and prepare repair specifications and evaluate tenders to arrange and carry out repairs, docking and refits together with Class, Flag and service providers
- Manage and coordinate proactive maintenance and repairs according to PMS and manufacturer’s recommendation is carried out with instructions and guidance to vessel personnel for minimum downtime
- Root cause investigation and analysis for technical faults, failures with service providers with findings
- Adequate instruction and guidance of vessel personnel with regards to on maintenance, administration and vessel/shore reporting
- Sate clear and specific goals for vessel personnel on expected levels of performance. Manage and maintain the talent pool by engaging top performers and taking corrective action on bottom performers
- Prepare all documents pertaining to H&M (hull and machinery) and P&I insurance claims for assigned vessels
- Monitor performance of vessels and maintain vessel preparedness at all times to comply with charter party requirements, port state control and oil majors. Take corrective actions for deviation and identify reasons.
- Check vessel reports and identify areas which require immediate action and timely correct all defects and deficiencies with immediate corrective action taken for any major defect.
- Monitor inventory control of stores and spares for ordering stores and spares
- Liaise with the Procurement Department related to supply of stores and spares with respect to trading commitments for most economical supply
- Coordinates technical activities in close corporation across departments
- As a primary point of contact for any emergencies aboard vessels under charge.
- Monitor and verify applicable technical rules and regulations changes.
- Drive continuous performance discussions with reports for learning and self-improvement
- Work with manager on updating the SOPs
- Manage relationships with suppliers and service providers
- Supervise daily operational activities of all assigned vessels
- Any ad-hoc duties and support as and when necessary
Job Requirement
- Minimum Diploma holders (Maritime related preferred)
- Minimum 2-5 years relevant experience in similar position
- Possess good organisational and communication skills and hands-on
- Independent and resourceful.
- Able to work under pressure to meet deadline
- Comfortable working in a fast paced technical operations environment
- Analytical and highly proactive in trouble shooting and problem solving
- Able to conduct effective stand up training for vessel personnel
- Ability to work independently and as a team player
Proficient in Microsoft Office
