**Epidemiologist **(Social-Behavioural Epidemiology & Research)**
**Job Summary**
The Epidemiologist will provide social, behavioural, and psychological insights into the clinical and public health management of communicable and non-communicable diseases in healthcare and community settings. Utilizing both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, you will provide inputs into the prevention and intervention efforts that seek to enhance health and well-being, and to reduce the incidence and negative outcomes of communicable and non-communicable diseases.
Main
**Responsibilities**:
- Drive socio-behavioural research to protect population health, improve patient care, and enhance disease treatment and prevention in TTSH and Central Health. The conduct of such research will lead to publications in peer-reviewed academic journals.
- Assist the department with the design, development and implementation of various communication and outreach materials such as weekly infectious diseases bulletin, daily infectious diseases scan, etc.
- Provide socio-behavioural and epidemiological inputs into disease prevention programmes in TTSH and Central Health.
- Provide input and participate in designing, planning, and implementation of health promotion and behavioural interventions to improve patient care and population health outcomes in TTSH and Central Health.
- Provide expert socio-behavioural epidemiology and public health advice to administrative and clinical decision making or policies in TTSH and Central Health, or wider audience.
- Provide consultancy and training for qualitative and quantitative research methodology as and when required.
- Develop strategic collaborations between Department of Clinical Epidemiology and stakeholders from within and outside of TTSH and Central Health.
- Responsible for the maintenance and improvement of existing disease surveillance/database systems in the department.
- Develop new surveillance/database systems using novel data sources and methods.
- Responsible for the production of timely surveillance systems reports.
- Responsible for regular auditing and feedback to stakeholders of the completeness, timeliness and utility of data flows in surveillance systems.
Job Requirements
- Minimum Masters degree in Health Psychology, Medical Sociology, Social Epidemiology, Behavioural Epidemiology, or Public Health (with a focus in social and/or behavioural epidemiology).
- Substantial postgraduate experience in public health or a relevant field, including analytical work relevant to public health, qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, social-behavioural research and/or epidemiology.
- Possessed work experience in health-related setting such as hospitals, public health organizations and academic institutions.
- Proficient with at least one Statistical Software package (SAS/STATA/SPSS/R) and one Qualitative Data Management Software package (NVivo/CAQDAS/Atlas.ti).
- Proficient in data management, data transmission, data security, data quality, data analysis including descriptive statistics and graphics and data reporting.
- Experienced in report writing, manuscript preparation, publications and presentations.
- Ability to solve problems by identifying root causes, develops and implement interventions, and evaluate outcome of interventions.
- Effective communications with good interpersonal skills and ability to work with a variety of people.
- Ability to take initiative in one’s work and to work harmoniously in a team under a variety of conditions.
