JOB SUMMARY

The TB Control Unit manages the majority of TB patients in Singapore. Administration of TB medications via Directly Observed Therapy (DOT) remains the gold standard of TB care both in Singapore and globally.

DOT requires that TB medications be administered by a trained healthcare worker to the patient, and is currently available at all polyclinics in Singapore, as well as the TB Control Unit. For a select group of patients who are unable to attend DOT at the above locations, the TBCU offers an outreach DOT (ODOT) programme, where the trained healthcare worker administers TB medication in the patient’s home or at an agreed location.

**MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

SPECIFIC

1) Outreach DOT programme
a. Directly observing patients taking their tuberculosis medicines in the community, e.g. at patients’ home and/or agreed location.
b. Assess for side-effects and notify the supervising RN/EN before serving medications
c. Provide general TB education to patients and their families.
d. Maintain timely and accurate records of patients’ information.
e. Report promptly to Supervising nurse on all medication events, missed doses, loss of patient contact/change of address and any patient’s concerns
f. Collaborates and co-operates with other health-care personnel in the smooth delivery of Outreach DOT.

GENERAL

1) Other responsibilities and administrative duties pertaining to TBCU operations as assigned by supervisor.
2) Respect and protect patients’ rights and confidentiality.

**JOB REQUIREMENTS**
EDUCATION GCE “N”/ “O” Level / Nitec in Applied & Health Sciences

**EXPERIENCE**
Able to commute and work independently.
More than 2 years of working experience in the healthcare industry.
Demonstrates competency in desktop operations such as Word and Excel.
