Job Summary
Commissioning Manager onshore and offshore substation will be responsible for supporting Operations Leader in coordinating and overseeing the successful execution of Commissioning and Startup program. In this role, the Commissioning Manager will bridge across the coalition that is Engineering, Construction and Licensee; and manage the cross functional efforts required to ensure the successful launch of the onshore and offshore Commissioning & Startup Program.
The Commissioning & Startup Program involves collaboration with various stakeholders and partners. The Program includes turnover from construction, component testing, system/preoperational testing, and startup testing. The role depends on the deep understanding of Commissioning & Startup, plant operations and maintenance. Cross-functional leadership skills are required to drive vital focus and accountability for the things that matter most to the onshore offshore Commissioning & Startup program success. This position will report to the construction & commissioning Leader, and work together with direct and indirect teams that are contributing to the project.
**Role and responsibilities**
The Commissioning Manager & Startup Leader will support the project Leader in executing the following:
- Turnover from construction, system flushing, component testing, system/preoperational testing, and startup testing.
- Development of Commissioning Program to include administrative manual/procedures, component testing, preoperational/system testing, and startup procedures.
- Management of cross-functional program execution, including commissioning and startup development strategy, programs, and procedures, to launch a successful program.
- Development of best practices/lessons learned matrix/processes for commissioning and startup development.
- Development of:Commissioning Program/ Schedule/Procedure Structure
Commissioning Project controls/scheduling
Commissioning Project reporting/communication
Customer interface
Stakeholder alignment
Functional support integration
Issue Resolution/Problem solving process.
Risk assessment for program
**Required qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering with work experience specifically in commissioning/startup of substations, series capacitors, synchronise condensers and HVDC.
- At least 15 years of significant relevant experience in commissioning and startup.
- Ability & willingness for extensive travel ~60%

- Strategic thinker with thought leadership, continuous learning, and improvement attributes to drive with impactful results and drive desired outcomes.
- Deep knowledge of driving an overall program’s vision with ability to align resources, processes, and outcomes to that vision.
- Good understanding of lean to incorporate lean thinking, culture and tools into strategy development and problem solving.
- Strong technical and analytical skills to understand and articulate complicated trade-offs.
- Ability to articulate information effectively and comprehensively, both written and verbal, to team members, senior management, and customers
- Skilled communicator capable of listening to multiple perspectives and incorporating useful insights into a balanced approach that optimizes the outcome.
- Strong understanding of plant component and system operation, use of plant documents and drawings to support commissioning and startup program.
