Minimum qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in software engineering, including managing a team of software engineers.
- Experience with software development in one or more general purpose programming languages.

Preferred qualifications:

- Experience with technical innovation and leading a team of software engineers in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with data analysis, quality, and experimentation.
- Experience in shipping large-scale products/capability.
- Experience successfully bootstrapping new engineering and product areas.

**About the job**:
The Urban Mobility team brings the indispensable companion experience to users across Google Maps to help them get to their destination. Our team owns the Google Maps directions, navigations, go experience, and urban mobility modes from transit, cycling, walking, and many more. With increased complexity and offerings in transportation and city infrastructure, we are building capabilities that simplify the decision-making and tailor to individual needs to help city locals go places. We are looking to offer solutions that will transform the urban mobility experience and bridge cities and agencies with users to make cities' transportation better.

The Geo team is focused on building the most accurate, comprehensive, and useful maps for our users, through products like Maps, Earth, Street View, Google Maps Platform, and more. Every month, more than a billion people rely on Maps services to explore the world and navigate their daily lives.

The Geo team also enables developers to use the power of Google Maps platforms to enhance their apps and websites. As they plot a course for the future of mapping, they are solving complex computer science problems, designing beautiful and intuitive product experiences, and improving our understanding of the real world.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develop and grow engineering talent through effective mentoring, coaching, succession planning, and retention strategies in a fast growth, highly competitive economic environment.
- Oversee architecture and critical implementations, product and code quality, and use of best practices focused on developing highly scalable systems.
- Develop, track, and communicate progress and risk to technology roadmap, maintain alignment with product roadmap to various stakeholders, and own development and shipment responsibility for projects.
- Inspire Computer Science teams to innovate, invent, implement, and deploy complex software solutions in a commercial, mission-critical environment.
