
Director Supply Chain

**Job Summary**:
The purpose of this position is to lead Asia Pacific supply chain initiatives to drive strategic procurement cost containment, formulate long term commodity strategies and develop a supply chain that is robust and responsive to changing business conditions. The Supply Chain Director will lead and manage a group of supply chain professionals located across different sites in Asia Pacific and set goals consistent with World Area business objectives and aligned to global supply chain directions. This person will collaborate with the key internal stakeholders within the Pressure Management business unit and across Emerson, as well as external suppliers.
**Responsibilities**:
- Drive Procurement Initiatives with Regional Supply Chain Managers to manage key procurement projects to ensure that they are completed on time. Prioritize projects so that those deriving the most benefits and impactful to the organization have the highest priority. Projects can take the form of:
- Regionalization of products to Asia
- Localization of components
- New Product Introduction or New Part Development.
- Material cost reduction (Value Analysis or Value Engineering)
- Supplier consolidation and rationalization
- Indirect materials sourcing and containment
- Drive for implementation and continuous improvement of Supply Chain processes and tools to meet business needs on cost, lead time, service level performance and quality. These include but not limited to:
- Gated Project Management
- E-sourcing
- Use of Inflation Model
- Maintaining an up-to-date Material Information Network.
- Other business unit processes and tools
- Develop and implement a 3-year Asia Sourcing Strategy for key commodities like castings, forgings, machined parts, fabrication subcontractors, rubber, valves etc. to achieve cost containment, improve suppliers’ performance and supply risk mitigation. Identify leveraging opportunities among sites in Pressure Management, Final Controls and Emerson.
- Develop Supplier Development and Continuous Improvement programs to achieve improved lead times, better quality and speed to deliver to meet our customers’ expectations.
- Identify suppliers for growth, maintain and exit strategy.
- Identifying suppliers that require development and improvement with plans and clear deliverables.
- Conduct Business Reviews and build relationships with critical suppliers.
- Negotiate contracts and manage negotiations for pricing, terms and conditions of purchases with key suppliers, New Product Introduction and/or Project Buyouts if required.
- Continuously and actively identify Supply Chain processes which include but not limited to sourcing, purchasing, supplier scoring and measurement which need improvement and collaborate with other functions to implement change till completion. Active participation in programs with other functions to improve “total supply chain speed and flexibility” from customers’ orders to shipments.
- Define the goals for Asia Pacific Supply Chain and develop metrices to measure performance. Take timely corrective actions when there are deviations from goals.
- Continuously assess and develop the Supply Chain Organization to improve its performance, speed and efficiency through:
- Provide employee feedback and coaching.
- Ensure employees are given adequate formal training and practice to use all the tools effectively.
- Ensure employees’ compliance to policies, processes and procedures.
- Manage the Performance Management Process and propose staffs’ development plan and training and succession planning.
**Job Requirements**:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business or Supply Chain Management required.
- Extensive experience in supply chain management and procurement in a global multinational organization.
- Proven track record in a senior leadership role and experience in management of an Asia Pacific regional team will be a plus.
- Knowledge and experience in the following commodities such as castings, die castings, machined parts, fabrication works, rubber, and springs will be required.
- Experience working in a matrix organization preferred.
- Excellent problem solving and root cause analysis skills.
- Excellent organization development and knowledge of international business.
- Must be able to effectively communicate with senior leadership and across cultural/geographical boundaries.
- Ability to travel within China and Asia Pacific about 40% of the time when normalcy resumes.
