**About the job**:
Our team's mission statement is "Edge Capacity, Optimally Delivered" and this includes the global delivery of OnNet and OffNet network capacity to enable Google's users to access our content and services.
As a Metro Designer, you will be responsible for the design details that allow a network engineer to deploy a project in the field. You will work closely developing automation to enable the future success of the network. You’ll use your experience in optical transport, data centers, and collocation, as well as your familiarity with the local metropolitan areas to which you are accountable, to drive greater efficiency and facilitate increased value-add for Google's network.
Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.
**Responsibilities**:
- Support and participate with Design teams, Deployment teams, Peering Negotiators, and Planners as needed to deliver end-to-end connectivity to the Google network.
- Work with Core, Transport, and Edge teams to translate common network solutions into standard and scalable bill of materials (BOMs) and detailed design packages for select internal and/or third-parties to execute across multiple sites simultaneously, while providing technical support as necessary.
- Work with the NetDeploy Automation and Business Operation teams to translate common network solutions into scalable and repeatable "stateless" work packages for third-party provisioners and project coordinators to execute with mínimal oversight.
- Work closely with project management, network engineering, and partner teams to identify in advance potential problems in network installations.
- Execute and troubleshoot capacity workflows for edge network devices in new and existing network nodes across Google's global network.
