As a Barclays Regional Economist you will play a pivotal role as a central member of the Asia Macro Research team. Working closely with research colleagues both in Asia and across regions,you will support the team in providing comprehensive research to institutional investors, sales and traders in Barclays on the Asian economy, politics and financial markets.

**What will you be doing?**
- Providing research into multiple economies primarily across North Asia, but also an opportunity to learn about the wider region
- Contributing to team views through discussion and persuasion, in a collegial environment
- Liaising with research colleagues in other areas and geographies to ensure consistency of views
- Leading the writing of thematic research reports on areas of coverage, and participating in regular publications as well as ad hoc publications to update clients
- Presenting research views to clients, both internal and external, in person, both in one-on-one meetings and at client conferences
- Facilitating, managing relations with key policymakers and institutions within the areas of coverage
- coordinating and communicating with colleagues, and to present to and interact with Barclays’ institutional clients
**What we’re looking for**:
- A strong background in economic analysis, preferably at a markets focused financial institution looking at North Asian economies
- A proven track record of good thematic research writing, with an emphasis on macroeconomics in Asia
- Strong presentation skills and writing abilities
- Solid understanding of Economic theory and practice developed through formal education and/or work in Economic research roles
**Skills that will help you in the role**:
- Material connectivity across policymakers in North Asia
- Having fluency in North Asian languages like Mandarin or Korean would be an advantage.
- Established network of policymaker and client relationships across North Asia
- Familiarity and ease with mathematics and statistics
