**Overview**
The Geriatric Oncology Service Coordinator is responsible for coordinating clinical services and research activities related to geriatric oncology. This role involves coordinating care, conducting G8 screenings, performing comprehensive geriatric assessments, managing prospective trials, obtaining patient consent, and overseeing a standing geriatric oncology database. The coordinator will work across the National University Hospital and the Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, ensuring seamless delivery of services and research activities.
**Responsibilities**:
**Geriatric Oncology Clinical Services Coordination**
- Coordinate care for geriatric oncology patients at both NTFGH and NUH.
- Facilitate communication between multidisciplinary teams involved in patient care.
- Ensure timely scheduling of appointments and follow-ups.
- Assist in coordinating supportive care services for patients and their families.
**G8 Screening**
- Perform G8 screenings for eligible geriatric oncology patients.
- Document screening results and communicate findings to the clinical team.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans based on screening outcomes.
**Comprehensive Geriatric Assessments (CGA)**
- Conduct comprehensive geriatric assessments for identified patients.
- Evaluate functional status, cognitive function, nutritional status, comorbidities, and psychosocial needs.
- Collaborate with the medical team to integrate CGA findings into treatment decision-making.
**Research Activities Management**
- Manage prospective trials related to geriatric oncology.
- Facilitate patient recruitment and enrollment in research studies.
- Obtain informed consent from patients participating in research activities.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and ethical standards.
**Database Management**
- Oversee the maintenance of a standing geriatric oncology database.
- Collect baseline patient data, geriatric assessment results, oncology recommendations, and intervention outcomes.
- Monitor data quality and integrity.
- Generate reports and analyses as needed for research purposes.
**Outcome Monitoring**
- Track clinical outcomes such as hospital readmissions, cancer treatment toxicity, overall survival, disease-free progression, and response to cancer treatment.
- Analyze outcome data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with researchers to publish findings and contribute to the advancement of geriatric oncology care.
**Collaboration and Education**
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, researchers, and external partners to promote best practices in geriatric oncology.
Provide education and training to healthcare staff on geriatric oncology principles and practices.
**Requirements**:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in nursing, healthcare administration, or related field. (eg. Psychology,Social Work, Counselling)
- Experience in oncology or geriatrics preferred.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge of clinical research methodologies and regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with database management and statistical analysis software.
- Possess good interpersonal, strong team spirit and communication skill.
- Possess good computer knowledge and Microsoft words skills.
- Able to multi-task and work under stress
- The coordinator will work primarily within hospital settings, collaborating with healthcare professionals and researchers.
Involve travel between the National University Hospital and the Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.
