We are representing an established and growing international shipping company looking to hire an experienced **Chartering Manager**to expand its global chemical tanker chartering business. The role offers a unique opportunity to work with an international team, build global networks, and drive strategic chartering decisions in a dynamic market.
**Responsibilities**:
**1. Market Analysis & Strategy**
- Closely monitor global chemical shipping market trends and indexes (e.g., Clarksons Chemical Tanker Index, Platts freight rates).
- Analyze regional tonnage supply-demand dynamics, oil price fluctuations, and geopolitical impacts to support chartering decisions and business planning.
- Develop route-specific chartering strategies (time charter, voyage charter, COA contracts) to optimize fleet deployment and strengthen competitiveness.
**2. End-to-End Chartering Execution**
- Build and maintain strong relationships with shipbrokers, owners, charterers, and traders worldwide.
- Negotiate favourable charter terms covering key points such as freight rates, laytime, and demurrage.
- Collaborate with legal teams to review contracts and mitigate legal risks (e.g., sanctions clauses, war risk).
- Work with technical and operations teams to optimize vessel scheduling, fuel procurement, and voyage planning, ensuring cost-effective and timely operations.
- Oversee contract execution, coordinate with all stakeholders (owners, charterers, agents, ports), and proactively resolve operational issues.
**3. Global Client & Resource Development**
- Develop and maintain key client relationships across Asia Pacific, Europe, and the Americas, including major energy companies, mining houses, and commodity traders.
- Attend industry events and summits to expand the company's commercial network.
- Build partnerships with global shipowners and financial leasing institutions to access quality tonnage and capture new market opportunities.
**Job Requirements**:
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Maritime Studies, Ship Engineering, International Trade, Logistics, Law, or related fields.
- Minimum 5 years in international chartering, with solid experience in chemical tanker chartering preferred.
- Familiarity with charter party design, freight derivatives trading, and maritime law (UK Law / New York Law).
- Strong global network among cargo owners, shipowners, and brokers; understanding of key shipping hubs like Singapore and Rotterdam.
- Strong market sense: able to interpret market cycles and quantify vessel earnings (e.g., using Clarksons SeaNet, VesselsValue).Risk management: evaluate charterer credit (e.g., using CreditSafe), design L/C or deposit structures, and ensure compliance with OFAC/EU sanctions.
