The Regional Vice President, Cross Border (Sea Freight) leads the entire Sea Freight team and reports to the Regional Head of Cross Border.

The Sea Freight team takes charge of all international Sea Freight and Trucking operations, procurement, vendor management, capability development and solutions optimisation. This team does not include a sales function and its solutions are sold through multiple sales channels across the Ninja Van organisation (NV). The team is young, and the solutions are currently the fastest growing product segment within NV.

NV acts as a consolidator and end-to-end provider in the sea freight space. NV is NOT a freight forwarder or cargo agent. Our primary customers are SMEs engaging in retail activities and our main lanes are from China Origin to Southeast Asia Destinations. We offer origin warehouse to customer door solutions and handle the export and import activities, not just the freight.

The Vice President is expected to lead the team to achieve:
1. Aggressive volume targets

2. Market competitive costing and speed

3. Operational excellence and high levels of quality

4. New capabilities that are effective

**Responsibilities**:

- Work with vendors to develop creative solutions to achieve sales channels’ desired product competitiveness
- Onboard new vendors to increase pool of vendors and market knowledge
- Develop creative solutions and commercial arrangements with strategic vendors
- Educates sales on product solutions, create customized proposals for key clients and be available to accompany sales in client meetings
- Provide operational expertise to Sales and accompany Sales for client visits during Monthly/Quarter Business Reviews
- Work with Head of Cross Border to develop the future systems for the team
- Processes for rates tendering, vendor onboarding, contract signing, invoicing and conduct visits to evaluate vendor performance
- Framework to monitor supplier performance (such as SLA, weight & dims accuracy, shipment exception handling such as loss/damages)
- Maintaining strategic sourcing relationships and developing strong partnerships with vendors
- Driving purchasing decisions based on cost and scenario analysis, as well as market trends
- Continuously identify ways to achieve revenue and cost targets
- Drive results through engagement with multiple sales channels
- Achieve alignment through cross functional and cross department influence
- Effective recruiting, onboarding, professional development, performance management, and retention
- Identify and assess training and development needs for the team
- Formulate policies to cultivate an inclusive culture
- Periodic reports on business performance

**Requirements**:

- Minimally a bachelor's degree with 8 years of relevant working experience in supply chain, freight forwarding, consolidation or international trading
- Experience in managing cross border sea freight & trucking operations from China to Southeast Asia
- Possess the trading / supply chain knowhow (import and export)
- Directly managed teams and accountable for their performance and satisfaction
- Strong network of existing 3PLs and forwarders in our markets
- MNC experience is a plus due complex stakeholder and reporting requirements
- Well-versed in using Microsoft Office and Google Suite
- Expertise in Airtable, Notion, SQL and/or Jira will be an added advantage
- Able to converse in both English and Mandarin, as the role requires close working relations with Mandarin-speaking counterparts
