- ** Position Summary**:

- Robotic technology is already pervasive in the current manufacturing landscape. However, the advent of the 4th Industrial revolution has dramatically changed how robots are used and integrated in the manufacturing environment. Novel sensors and complex controllers, often based on machine learning techniques, are enabling robots to sense their environments and take autonomous decisions. A new generation of collaborative robots is already able to dynamically work together with their human co-workers. Robots are leaving their enclosed and secured work cells, widening their job scope from manufacturing to service sectors such as healthcare and hospitality. Robots are no longer isolated machines, but are becoming nodes in a physical and digital network with various interactions, connections, and dependencies.

- ** Key Responsibilities**
- Lead developer of automated tools to evaluate safety, security, and reliability of connected robotic systems
- Design and productization of proof-of-concept demonstrators
- Hands on software development and hardware integration where necessary
- Draft design documents, requirements and guidelines
- Liaise with internal and external business stakeholders
- Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to team members
- Supervise junior software developer
- Project management and reporting
- Represent TÜV SÜD at industry forums, standardization committees, and special interest groups

**Qualifications**
- ** Key Requirements**
- MS or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or comparable qualification
- More than 3 years of relevant work experience in industry or academia programming robots
- Strong in system modeling and abstract thinking
- Practical software engineering experience with C++, Python and ROS in a Linux or Unix environment
- Experience in software testing and system validation
- Strong project management experience
- Background in machine learning
- Team player with ability to work in international and multi-cultural teams
- Strong communications skills, fluent in English (oral and written)
- Highly motivated to perform applied research and bring solutions to the market

- Background in programming language design and compiler implementatio
- Experience with simulation and 3D tools and libraries (Gazebo, OpenCV, Cuda)
- Experience programming UR or Franka robots
