Singapore Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) Full time

Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation’s Power, Utilities & Infrastructure (“PUI”) sector banking team is looking to hire either a Senior Associate or Assistant Vice President to support the senior team members in the origination and execution of transactions in Asia. The PUI team provides lending and advisory solutions across various assets including solar, wind, geothermal, hydro, roads, ports, and airports, with increasing focus on ESG related business and energy transition.

**Key Roles/Responsibilities**:

- Deal origination:

- Sector banking activities including marketing, pitching and providing tailored financial solutions to clients by leveraging on industry knowledge and expertise
- Prepare financial proposals including term sheets and/or presentations
- Identity and monitor market developments and opportunities
- Liaise with various internal, external stakeholders (banks, advisors, legal firms etc.) and clients as necessary
- Deal execution:

- Review/Preparation of credit paper and other related materials as necessary
- Assist with the documentation process with support from internal and external legal counsel as necessary
- Build financial models for transactions
- Assist on advisory mandates including preparation of materials for client with regards to deal execution
- Assist in the negotiation process on deals
- Guide junior members on origination and execution process

**Job Requirement**
- Bachelor’s degree
- Good written and verbal communications skills
- At least 2-6 years of relevant work experience, preferably in M&A / project finance / structured finance with experience in credit writing
- Work experience in the energy and/or infrastructure sector. Experience in renewables will be viewed favourably
- Strong PowerPoint, Excel, and Word skills
- Ability to build financial models from scratch
- Ability to work independently on jobs assigned
- Positive personality with strong work ethics
- Self-motivated and strong team player with ability to work in multicultural team
