Do you remember being told by your parents/teachers that video games were not going to make you money as an adult? Us too Yet here we are getting to work in esports, making history every day.
As a Game Publisher Relations Manager, you will be working on global initiatives for competitive esports titles. You will get to put your love of video games to good use as you strategize with publishers on how to keep the longevity of their games and move them to the next level through an ESL partnership. You will work with a community of passionate individuals bringing our mission of “where everybody can be somebody” to life.
You will be the key point of contact for game publishers and developers at ESL. Working in the publisher relations team, you will get to work with a wide range of partners, from the biggest game publishers in the world, to indie developers who are launching their first game ever.
One of the great things about working in the publisher relations team, is that not one day is ever the same. Some examples of projects you will be doing are:
- Building an online tournament series for a newly launched game
- Creating an onsite activation for a game publisher at an ESL event or a gaming convention
- Developing a multi-year esports strategy for a global esports title
**What you’ll do**:
- Develop and communicate publisher and developer strategy and concepts, educating and advocating across ESL about key industry trends and developments relevant to our business
- Act as key point of contact with game publishers, building and maintaining strategic relationships, working to define and execute long-term, mutually beneficial business partnerships
- Travel to gaming and esports events around the world to solidify relationships with partners and witness your project come to life
- Negotiate publisher deals, MSAs and contracts; this includes overseeing the creation of budgets and project plans for publisher and developer partnerships allowing you to own these partnerships from start to finish
- Work with internal departments, such as marketing, tournament management, broadcast, and event production, to execute our publisher activations and strategies.
- Showcase your creative talents by creating new concepts and programs around ESL offerings and pitching them to publishers
- Keep up to date on industry trends and relevant changes within the esports world
**What you need**:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Business Communication, Sales, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. MBA degree a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive publisher development / sales experience
- Experience working in video game, esports entertainment, broadcasting, or other entertainment industry
- Strong presentation preparation skills and proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office products
- Excellent organizational skills, and the ability to carry out several tasks at the same time
- Demonstrated ability to communicate in the English language, both spoken and written
- A big plus is if you have extensive knowledge of the esports industry and the different competitive ecosystems that exist for the biggest competitive games on the market.
