As a Security Engineer, you will be the first member of the Poloniex security team in the East, reporting to the Senior Security Manager, helping us secure, evolve, and grow our world-class cryptocurrency exchange, bringing the future of finance to emerging global markets.

You will work with a diverse team of remote security engineers located in the United States while collaborating with distributed international teams. The Security Engineer is considered a security and technical expert in different security technology, architectures, designs, systems implementation, and integrations with deep, specialised knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS).

The engineer will be responsible for designing and delivering security solutions based on cloud security standards, governance, and control practices.

When necessary, the security engineer will conduct technical research to contribute to setting security direction and strategy for the Security and Engineering Teams. The Security Engineer will use their expert knowledge to protect the company's funds and our customers as well as to maintain and grow Poloniex’s reputation.

**_What you’ll be responsible for: _**
- Working directly with Engineering teams, guiding them on best security practices and information about company security guidelines.
- Designing, developing, and implementing new security technologies to support business and technology solutions.
- Creating and maintaining system documentation, architecture diagrams, and online collaborative documentation.
- Reviewing and assessing the currently utilised tools, apps, and processes to determine gaps for meeting the needs of the stakeholders.
- Conducting security controls assessments for new and existing systems.
- Determining security modes of operation and recommending new or revised security measures and countermeasures for current security challenges.

**What you will bring to the team**:

- Bachelor’s degree and/or four or more years of related work experience.
- Ability to work independently, only interacting with team members when timezones align.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English and Mandarin.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Knowledge of security principles and practices, general procedures, and guidelines.
- Experience in the software development lifecycle and agile methodologies.
- Development of security tools, automation, or frameworks.
- Experience in administration and direction for the secure operation of the enterprise, focusing on security components, risk management, and control.
- Willingness to take meetings outside of regular business hours to accommodate people in different time zones.
