**About the role**

We are looking for
**Principal Analyst, Market Analysis **in the Aluminium, Alumina and Bauxite Market Analysis team to cover analysis of aluminium. The role will require a firm understanding of the aluminium markets and will involve close analyst support to Rio Tinto Commercial.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Ali, B&A, Carbon, Alloys, you will be:

- Monitoring market trends, industry developments, shifts in value chain and growth opportunities.
- Collecting, analysing and interpreting data to forecast aluminium demand, production and prices.
- Maintaining a database and tracking future changes to aluminium capacity.
- Reconciling conflicting data from various sources to deliver a definitive view.
- Validating and improving costs data to construct and improve operating cost curves.
- Demonstrating insights, and delivering analysis, and forecasts on a robust and transparent set of methodologies through verbal and written communications.
- Monitoring competitor moves, pricing trends and projects pipeline.
- Partnering with the Sales and Marketing Aluminium team to identify opportunities and define areas where Market Analysis can add value and contribute to revenue generation.
- Proactively identifying commercial needs to deliver high quality insights.
- Partnering with the Sales and Marketing Aluminium team to support sales negotiation, customer engagements and industry engagements as required.
- Supporting the Manager with key deliverables to senior stakeholders across aluminium and the entire value chain.

**What you will need for the role**

**To succeed in this role, you will have**:

- ** **Degree in Economics, Sciences or in a similar field.
- Relevant market analysis experience in aluminium and/or natural resourced for min 5-10 years.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Proven relevant experience and analytical skills with the ability to critically analyse data and identify trends and key drivers.
- Strong quantitative background and approach to data/modelling.
- Demonstrating proactive engagement and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to advise senior stakeholders and influence views via a fact based/informed approach.
- Excellent IT skills including the use of MS Office and Power BI.
