Trader, Copper Concentrate

The incumbent reports to the Book Manager of Copper Concentrate Division, as a trader for the company’s Copper Concentrate physical. The trader shall be also responsible for managing futures hedging position for the company’s both Copper Concentrates businesses.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**1. Sales/Procurement**
- Support book manager to secure supply sources from copper miners and build a sizable trading book.
- Support book manager to allocate products globally.
- Visit customers / suppliers for relationship management, business negotiations.
- Draw up necessary contracts, business confirmations and collaborate with trade operations team on day to day shipping issues.
- Monitor Copper Concentrates physical/futures trading book including managing the futures position and execute proper hedge for concentrates through brokers and banks
- Collaborate and assist operational team on day to day shipping matters (incl. LC etc.) Manage external/internal stakeholder engagements and resolve customer complaints (if required).
- Design commercial ideas which can maximize RtM’s net back and negotiate / conclude business with particular customers / suppliers based on instructions by trading book managers
- Take responsibility over the budget and seek necessary approvals in compliance to RtMI’s company policies/guidelines.
- Take initiatives in supporting the colleagues outside of assigned markets to enhance the total value/trading portfolio of the Division.

**2. Position/Risk Managements**
- Monitor physical / futures position for both copper concentrates trading to manage risk exposure within approved limits.
- Place necessary hedge orders to brokers in order to adjust position in future markets.
- Monitor and take necessary initiatives to in-place a proper control over the commercial / credit risks and make sure company’s exposure is within company’s approved credit lines.
- Collaborate with relevant divisions to develop CTRM system to enhance the company’s risk management level.
- Ensure accurately input of trades in a timely manner.

**3. Compliance**
- Ensure all activities comply with company guidelines and policies (RtMI’s and MC HQ’s global corporate rules and policies), and ensure all relevant Laws and Taxes are adhered to and met.
- Trade Copper in accordance with RtMI’s operating policy and within the designated business framework as well as assigned trading limits
- Prepare various reserve and supporting documents required for trade internal control
- Liaise with legal and compliance department, prepare Security Trade Control (STC) documents and ensure STC compliance
- Liaise with legal and compliance department, prepare AEO documents, resolve various AEO issues and ensure AEO compliance if it is applicable
- Liaise with accounting department to resolve indirect and direct tax issues and ensure TAX compliance
- Liaise with accounting department in relation to accounts treatment and ensure correct accounting treatments
- Liaise with Strategy and Coordination department and prepare Country Risk Control documents, resolve various Country Risk Control issues and ensure compliance with requirement of Country Risk Control

**4. Perform other related duties as required during working hours.
**REQUIREMENTS**:
**Experience**
- Possess a recognized degree in business, financial studies or other relevant specializations
- Minimum 2 years of Copper / Base Metals concentrate trading experience.
- Strategic and tactical in stakeholder engagements (supported by success/failure experiences)

**Knowledge**
- Copper Metals and Concentrate as a product and services related to the trade of such product.
- Futures market particularly on Base Metals
- Business Operations (such as flow of international trading, L/C, Security Trade Control, Internal Control).
- STC (Export Control) and Compliance.
- Trade related knowledge of SAP Software.
- An understanding of the economic, cultural and political environment that the company may confront in the respective region as assigned to.

**Skills**
- Experience in Futures markets including hedging and position management
- Ability to communicate in both written and verbal English / Japanese at a business level (professional competency), preferably additional language related the industry such as Spanish to communicate with the companies in the different regions.
- Freight exposure / knowledge and knowledge of handling B/Ls, L/Cs and B/Cs
- Balanced commercial decision making skills.
- People management skills, interpersonal skills as well as influencing and negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of insurance, AEO, import duties, indirect tax such as VAT, GST etc and compliance.
- Ability to work under pressure, Ability to prioritize work tasks.
- Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to details.
- Excellent PC skills - advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office as well as trading systems, and willingness to learn new systems.
