About The Role
You will be a member of the staff reporting to the Executive Director and supervised by the Counselling Manager.
Your roles and responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Interview widow or the fatherless individually, in families or in groups.
- Assess their situation and help them develop strategies and plans for the future.
- Provide grief counselling, support group therapy and crisis intervention.
- Make references and recommendations to government or social service agencies.
- Conduct training for befrienders equipping them with the knowledge and skills to support and befriend widows.
- Conduct groupwork for parents and children, youths.
- Consolidate and submission of reports relating to counselling department.
- Doing outreach presentation or talk to social service agencies, grassroots and corporates whenever required.
- Undertake any other duties as assigned.
**Technical Competencies**:
- Able to work on different therapy integrated for children and integrated with counselling (eg, Play or Art therapy from an MOE recognised institution).
- At least 2 to 3 years of experience of counselling cum other types of therapeutic work with children, adolescents, adults, and their families.
**Core Competencies**:
- Possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and with a trans-disciplinary and multi-cultural team of specialists and therapists.
- Able to manage assigned number of caseload.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
**Preferred achievements / characteristics**:
- Applicants must be fully vaccinated. Proof of vaccination, or doctor’s memo for those who are medically ineligible for vaccination, may be requested for verification purposes.
- Bachelor degree or Master in Counselling or other discipline with a focus on child and adolescent development.
- Demonstrates a passion for working with children and youth and complex psychosocial issues.
- Preferably registered with Singapore Association for Counselling.
