As a National Talent Development Coach, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of diving talent in Singapore. Your expertise will be instrumental in refining the Skills and Talent Identification (TID) pathway, ensuring a progressive and athlete-centred approach to developing our nation's top divers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Expertise:
    • You will lead the refinement of the TID and Skills pathway, focusing on athlete-centred development and progress monitoring.
    • Create an emotionally safe training environment that fosters self-belief, resilience, and psychosocial skills in athletes.
    • Assist in crafting optimal competition pathways that balance technical skill development with meaningful competitive experience.
    • Collaborate with coaching teams to design annual plans for divers within the Skills and TID programmes.
    • Support the implementation and development of the National Diving Awards syllabus and pathway programmes.
    • Take responsibility for coaching assigned classes within the Skills and TID programme.
    • Design and deliver coach education initiatives to equip local coaches with knowledge and tools to prepare athletes effectively.
    • Visit local diving clubs to observe and assess coaching methodologies and devise strategies to strengthen athlete development pathways.
  • Effective Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners and stakeholders, including affiliates, educational institutions, national federations, and sponsors.
    • E nsure alignment and collaboration across all partners to strengthen the national diving pathway and enhance opportunities for athletes.
    • Act as an ambassador for Singapore Diving, representing the organization with professionalism and enthusiasm.
  • Logistical Organisation:
    • Collaborate with support staff to plan and implement training and competition logistics.
    • Oversee and manage arrangements for travel, accommodations, competition entries, meals, and transportation.
    • Take primary responsibility for organising information, records, and materials related to the TID/Skills programme.
  • Reporting:
    • Maintain and manage athlete performance databases with accuracy.
    • Provide regular updates to the Sport Director and parents regarding athlete progress.
    • Submit incident reports, trip reports, and performance reviews in a timely and professional manner.

To succeed in this role, you must possess relevant diving coaching certifications, a track record of coaching athletes to junior international level, and at least 5 years of practical coaching experience. You should also demonstrate strong interpersonal and management skills, empathy, respect, and sensitivity towards athletes, as well as logical decision-making abilities and effective communication skills.
