Chief Operating Officer

Role Overview

Reporting to the CEO/Board, the COO leads firm-wide operations and fund platform enablement—spanning VCC structuring, regulatory compliance, administrator/auditor coordination, digital process integration, and mandate/risk oversight—so the investment team can execute with speed and control.

1) Investment Mandate Risk Monitoring

• Monitor fund activity for adherence to client mandates, risk parameters, and pre-set investment constraints.
• Coordinate with the investment team and fund administrator to implement risk tracking and exception reporting.
• Escalate and document any mandate breaches and drive remediation procedures.

2) Fund Structuring & Operating (VCC Investment Vehicle)

• Lead setup and structuring of Variable Capital Companies (VCC) and sub-funds aligned to investment objectives.
• Partner with legal, tax advisors, custodians, bankers, and fund administrators to meet regulatory, accounting, tax, audit, reporting, and substance requirements.
• Oversee lifecycle events (launches, closures, restructurings) and cross-border coordination.

3) Digital Systems & Process Integration

• Implement and integrate digital solutions across onboarding, AML/KYC, portfolio operations, compliance, and investor reporting.
• Orchestrate third-party platforms (onboarding/ID&V, AML screening, client portals, data rooms).
• Drive automation to streamline workflows and reduce operational risk.

4) Regulatory Compliance & Reporting

• Oversee timely submission of all required MAS regulatory filings; maintain audit-ready records.
• Liaise with MAS and other authorities during inspections, audits, or licensing changes; maintain up-to-date compliance manuals (SFA-aligned).

5) Financial Oversight

• Lead internal budgeting, expense management, and forecasting.
• Supervise outsourced/in-house accounting; ensure accurate financials and cost efficiency.
• Review and approve monthly P&L, balance sheet, and fund-level performance packs.

6) Corporate Governance & Internal Controls

• Design and maintain internal control frameworks for operations, valuation, outsourcing, conflicts, and disclosures.
• Monitor staff compliance with policies, SOPs, and regulatory codes of conduct.
• Prepare governance dashboards and reports for the Board/IC.

7) Member of Internal Investment Committees

• Contribute to deal evaluation and portfolio oversight (with emphasis on primary-market opportunities).
• Provide investment research and strategic input, especially in fintech and SaaS transactions.

• Experience: A minimal of 8 years in GM/COO or senior management role in multi-cultural environment, inclusive of at least 5 years within regulated financial institutions (PE/VC, private markets, multi-asset AM). Having experience in hands-on fund administrator oversight.
• Regulatory: Strong command of MAS requirements for LFMCs and practical familiarity with inspections, periodic filings, and governance expectations.
• Technical & Process: Proven track record implementing digital workflows (onboarding/AML/KYC, data pipelines, investor reporting); Familiarity with AI in the financial services sector is an added advantage. Comfort with vendor management and automation.
• Controls & Risk: Demonstrated capability building control frameworks (mandate compliance, valuation, outsourcing, BCP).
• Stakeholder Management: Effective coordination with investment teams, LPs, administrators, auditors, legal/tax counsel, and banks.
• Education/Professional: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree and/or professional credentials (e.g., CA/CPA/CFA/FRM, IBF-accredited programs) are advantageous.

Experience in the fintech industry may be considered relevant to roles such as fund administrator, operations, or risk management, depending on the specific job description and responsibilities.

Competitive and negotiable , commensurate with experience and impact. Package may include fixed salary, performance bonus, and long-term incentive participation.
