The role reports to: Managing Director and President Asia. The role will be based in Singapore. Responsibilities: Drive the strategic growth of Entrepreneurial Unit (“EU”) Chemicals Asia through identifying, developing, and realizing mid to long term business opportunities. This includes strategic partnership, for example, formation of joint-ventures, mergers & acquisitions, structuring major chemicals deals such as toll processing. Partner with senior leadership in HELM to lead the development, assessment, and recommendation of key strategic options aimed at profitably accelerating growth in Asia. This includes, where applicable: Develop business cases and bring opportunities for Final Investment Decision to HELM’s Executive Board. Lead negotiation of shareholders’ agreements and joint-venture agreements. Provide leadership to ensure cooperation and coordination between commercial and other cross-functional teams, such as legal, finance, compliance, sustainability, technical, and HSSE from development to Final Investment Decision. Partner with HELM’s Global Business Development team to develop, validate, recommend, and execute business proposals (including commercialization of technology) for growth opportunities. Partner with EU Chemicals Asia’s leadership team (India, Thailand, Singapore, China, Korea, Japan, and Taiwan) to develop, validate, recommend, and implement business proposals for growth when necessary. Continuously develop a pipeline of projects with varying maturity to be able to implement attractive projects at the right timing. Develop a network of contacts for sourcing business opportunities. Establish and maintain relationships with industry influencers, key external stakeholders, and strategic partners. As a senior leader, contribute to and foster a high-performance culture in EU Chemicals Asia. Requirements: Wide and deep knowledge (at least 10 years) of the chemical industry. Established network within the Asian chemicals industry. Strategic outlook focusing on mid to longer term. Ability to lead teams and collaborate across different functions. Ability to work with senior management within the company and with potential partners. Negotiation skills, project management skills, influencing skills, leadership skills (both formal and informal), financial & project structuring skills. Preferably experienced in M&A and JV.
