About NUH
The National University Hospital (NUH) is Singapore’s leading university hospital, with a proud heritage dating back to 1905 with the establishment of what’s now the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Our strong ties with the medical school have shaped us into a unique institution, allowing us to seamlessly integrate clinical care with teaching and research.
About Department and Purpose of the Position
As the Manager of Corporate Communications at the National University Cancer Institute, Singapore (NCIS), you will play a crucial role in developing and executing strategies to build a sustainable, adaptive, and thriving NCIS Brand Ecosystem. Your work will ensure that NCIS resonates with both internal and external stakeholders, bringing measurable value and impact to patients. You will be responsible for expanding NCIS's reach, increasing brand awareness, and driving stakeholder engagement, all with the goal of supporting NCIS’s leadership in cancer care.
Key Responsibilities
Brand Ecosystem Development
Lead the creation and implementation of a comprehensive brand strategy aimed at strengthening NCIS's position as a leader in cancer care, research, and education at an international platform.
Ensure the NCIS brand remains relevant, adaptive, and impactful to patients, caregivers, healthcare partners, and stakeholders across all levels.
Stakeholder Engagement
Build and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including patients, donors, healthcare providers, research institutions, and government agencies.
Create and execute integrated communication plans that foster continuous, meaningful touchpoints with these audiences, enhancing engagement and loyalty to the NCIS brand.
Drive Brand Awareness and Market Share
Develop campaigns to increase NCIS's brand visibility and reach, expanding its market share and impact within the healthcare industry and public awareness.
Lead the development of content and narratives that position NCIS as a thought leader in cancer treatment and research, ensuring alignment with the broader NUHS communications strategy.
Internal Communications and Culture
Champion internal communications efforts to ensure that NCIS staff are aligned with the institute’s goals and values.
Collaborate closely with leadership teams to foster a strong internal culture that mirrors NCIS’s external brand promises.
Crisis and Reputation Management
Work with NUHS Group Communications to establish and oversee a crisis communications framework that protects and enhances NCIS’s reputation during unforeseen challenges.
Act as a spokesperson during critical moments, managing all external communications related to crises and other sensitive matters.
Content Creation and Digital Strategy
Oversee the development of content across various platforms, including social media, website, newsletters, and press releases.
Lead digital communication efforts to ensure NCIS remains at the forefront of global media trends, using analytics and market insights to refine strategies.
Event Management and Public Relations
Lead the planning and execution of high-profile events, including international cancer symposiums, global awareness campaigns, donor events, and conferences that elevate NCIS on the world stage.
Drive global public relations efforts to promote NCIS’s programs, partnerships, and research breakthroughs, working closely with media outlets to secure positive coverage internationally.
Team Leadership and Development
Lead and mentor a team of communication professionals, ensuring they have the resources and guidance needed to execute key initiatives successfully.
Develop training programs and professional development opportunities for the team to foster continuous learning and excellence.
Key Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in corporate communications, with at least 3 years in a leadership role, ideally within healthcare or global organizations.
Proven ability to develop and execute large-scale communication and brand strategies.
Strong media relations and crisis communication experience.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a talent for creating compelling narratives and campaigns.
Strategic thinking with a keen understanding of the global healthcare landscape and patient engagement.
This role is vital in positioning NCIS as a global leader in cancer care, shaping both the internal and external narratives that build strong relationships with key international stakeholders. Through innovative campaigns, strategic communication, and global outreach, this position will ensure that NCIS is recognized worldwide for its contributions to cancer research, treatment, and education, amplifying its impact across the global healthcare ecosystem.
