The role:
The Electrical Commissioning Engineer oversees all electrical aspects of assigned commissioning projects from initial engagement through to client handover. The engineer will execute project schedules by coordinating contractors and vendors to complete electrical system testing while ensuring safety for all personnel involved.
Responsibilities include:
Leading electrical commissioning and testing activities according to the Scope of Works.
Serving as a technical advisor to the client, providing feasibility assessments, resource impact analysis, and methodological guidance.
Acting as on-site technical lead, coordinating information from vendors, clients, contractors, and site owners to facilitate decision-making.
Participating in meetings with stakeholders to agree on commissioning deliverables.
Ensuring certification and documentation from contractors and vendors are complete and compliant.
Reviewing design documents and approving those that meet commissioning requirements.
Supporting the development of engineering and commissioning deliverables.
Creating and reviewing test scripts, ITPs, and conducting FAT/FWT as required.
Ensuring quality and performance standards are met during testing.
Managing work progress and communicating updates regularly to internal teams and clients.
Producing technical reports on project status.
Identifying risks and communicating issues transparently.
Managing scope variations and assisting in developing mitigation strategies.
Critical Skills and Knowledge:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Knowledge of OSHA or similar safety standards.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to interpret electrical schematics and P&IDs.
Understanding of mission-critical design concepts.
Knowledge of electrical distribution, switchgear, substations, UPS, ATS, batteries, generators, and load banks.
