Job Description Offer expert consultation and support to other veterinarians within the hospital, assisting them in diagnosing and managing complex internal medicine cases. Collaborate with referring veterinarians to develop treatment plans and provide continuous updates on patient progress. Provide clear communication to clients about diagnoses, treatment options, and prognosis. Work closely with veterinarians in other departments and veterinary specialists e.g. Emergency and Critical Care Specialists, Specialist Surgeons to manage complex medicine cases. Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment by offering guidance and assistance to colleagues when needed and ensuring that patient care remains a top priority. To provide clear outlines or plan for hospitalized Internal Medicine patients to ECC veterinarian on duty or be available to provide opinion out of hours if needed. Be available for out-of-hour duties (with out-of-hours fees provided). Medical advice provided via phone calls or texts will not be provided any out-of-hour fees. Perform and oversee specialized diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including but not limited to endoscopy (scoping), ultrasound, radiology (X-rays and CT scans), and laboratory tests (e.g. blood tests, urinalysis, biopsies, cytology). Interpret diagnostic results to formulate accurate diagnoses and design effective treatment protocols for a wide range of medical conditions, such as gastrointestinal, respiratory, cardiovascular, endocrine, and renal diseases. Diagnose and manage complex conditions such as diabetes, kidney disease, immune disorders, and respiratory diseases. Develop tailored treatment plans, including medical therapies, dietary modifications, and long-term management strategies. Participate in department patient rounds, working closely with other veterinary specialists, technicians, and support staff to discuss ongoing cases, review treatment plans, and ensure the best possible patient outcomes. Contribute to multi-disciplinary discussions, offering insights on complicated medical cases, and assisting in decision-making to enhance patient care. Track patient progress through follow-up visits, diagnostic testing, and treatment adjustments. Educate pet owners on chronic disease management and preventive care.
