Roles & Responsibilities Research Fellow (Urban Psychology Lab) The Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities at the Singapore University of Technology and Design is seeking a full-time Research Fellow, to join a growing research team dedicated to understanding human behavior in cities. Successful applicants will contribute to a research program that explores the intersection of human behavior, urban design, technology, and livability. The program tackles critical questions about how cities shape people’s behaviors and, in turn, how cities should be designed to better serve their inhabitants. Upcoming projects in the lab include the study of public perception and behaviours in public spaces, nature-connectedness and health in cities, and mobility and health in cities. Candidates should possess a strong interest in applying a human lens to transdisciplinary and collaborative research. Expertise in quantitative research methods, experience working with Virtual Reality, physiological and/or neurological measures, and a background in applied social and/or behavioral science will be a plus. The candidate will be expected to: - Lead or co-lead projects in the lab - Design and implement quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods research, including experimental and field studies - Develop and validate instruments for psychological and behavioural assessment in urban settings - Conduct data analysis using relevant statistical, spatial, or computational tools with quantitative and/or qualitative data - Prepare journal manuscripts and technical reports for publication - Engage with external partners including government agencies, NGOs, and community group - Contribute to identifying new research opportunities and assist in the preparation of research grant proposals Skills and qualifications required: - Obtained or expected PhD related to the social sciences or behavioural sciences (e.g., Psychology, Behavioral Economics, Human Geography, Public Health or related disciplines) - Demonstrable skills in quantitative and/or qualitative data collection and analysis - Excellent written and oral communication skills - Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., R, Stata, Python, NVivo, GIS) - Experience with interdisciplinary or community-based research is a plus How to apply: Interested applicants are encouraged to send their application with the subject heading – Research Fellow/Associate (Urban Psychology Lab) to with the following: - Cover letter explaining your interest in the position and addressing the qualifications and skills requirements (1 page) - Curriculum vitae - Two writing samples of publication or research work - Three referees who may be contacted for a reference We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
