IT Compliance Manager (health-tech startup) IT Compliance Manager (health-tech startup)

Our client is a health-tech startup AI-powered platform. Currently they are running their compliance program across HIPAA, SOC 2, ISO 42001, 21 CFR Part 11, and other relevant frameworks.

This is a hands-on leadership role that blends documentation, vendor management, audit preparation, and quality assurance of our cloud infrastructure to ensure ongoing compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own company’s internal compliance framework and documentation
  • Maintain SOC 2 / HIPAA audits and readiness, including evidence collection and process tracking
  • Manage access controls, policy enforcement, and vendor risk reviews
  • Respond to RFPs, IT security questionnaires, and procurement processes
  • Oversee compliance-related QA for company’s cloud and technical environments (e.g. Google Cloud, Supabase, etc.), ensuring proper configuration of security controls like IAM, encryption, logging, and backups
  • Collaborate with engineering and security teams to validate infrastructure compliance across environments
  • Maintain internal dashboards and risk logs to track audit cycles, remediation progress, and policy adoption
  • Deliver training programs on data privacy, security best practices, and internal compliance protocols

Skills/Experience:

  • Legal background or certifications in privacy, compliance, or security (e.g. CIPP, CISSP, CISA)
  • More than 3 years in compliance, infosec, or legal operations with experience with: HIPAA, SOC 2, ISO 42001, 21 CFR Part 11, and other frameworks
  • Compliance automation platforms (Vanta) and Procurement and risk reviews in highly regulated industries (e.g. healthcare, finance, government)
  • Managing and validating compliance controls in cloud environments (e.g. Google Cloud Platform, IAM policies, encryption settings, backups)
  • High attention to detail and ability to independently own risk assessments, audit cycles, and infrastructure QA
  • Familiarity with GDPR, CCPA, or U.S. state-level privacy laws and have worked in a healthcare-adjacent or regulated startup would be preferable

You should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with problem-solving skill. Intellectual curiosity, strong professional judgment, work independently and have initiative mindset.
