Life Sciences Attorney (Full Time, Remote Position)
VeraSafe is an innovative and successful U.S. headquartered privacy and cybersecurity compliance consulting firm and law firm. Due to rapid growth and increased demand for our international privacy and technology compliance and legal services, VeraSafe is seeking creative, motivated, and collaborative attorneys with life science experience to join our data protection and privacy practice. This is a fully remote position and will remain a fully remote position.

About the Role:
This is an excellent opportunity for anyone who wants to join a team working on the cutting edge of privacy and data protection, and who wants to further develop a practice at the intersection of privacy and life science. We are inundated with client demand in the life science and pharmaceutical space who value our privacy compliance guidance.
We have found our strongest team members don't necessarily have prior privacy law experience. You'll begin with a robust onboarding and training process. We typically advance people more quickly than a typical law firm, and we do it on an individual basis (no lockstep promotions or compensation).
Note : There is a 1-3 hour skills assessment associated with the recruitment for this position. We know this is a burden, but it helps us hire the best attorneys regardless of where they went to law school or were trained. We seek smart, kind, creative lawyers and view this assessment as essential to our hiring approach.
We are not a traditional legal job. We use project managers to keep our remote team organized and our projects on track. We encourage travel and the ability to work as digital nomads. We collaborate closely and share credit for work well done. We are not biglaw; we do top-notch work for interesting clients while prioritizing a balance that supports a healthy life outside of work.

Responsibilities Include:
Leading the data protection aspects of a clinical trial from start to finish
Assessing study protocols for privacy issues
Reviewing CTAs, ICFs, and privacy policies
Drafting data protection agreements, addenda, and amendments
Researching legal issues and composing legal opinions/memoranda
Writing clinical trials, GCP, and privacy law related articles and blog posts
Assisting in the development of in-house legal templates
Contributing to the development of internal procedures and methodologies
Collaborating with a team of intellectual peers who value cooperation and community
What We Need From You
Need to Have:
License to practice law (active and in good standing) in your jurisdiction
At least three years of work experience as an attorney
An interest in privacy and technology
Team player, interested in contributing to a growing enterprise
Strong writing/editing skills and attention to detail
Ability to work remotely
Willingness to learn new skills and receive direction and feedback from partners
Willingness to pursue privacy certifications (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM)
Nice to Have:
Experience working in a law firm
Previous contract drafting and negotiation experience strongly preferred
Experience/training in privacy law
Privacy certifications of some kind (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPP/US, etc.)
Professional involvement in the privacy and/or data security space
Detail-oriented and highly organized with a strong work ethic
Tech-savvy and comfortable using a variety of software applications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage your own schedule to work with international teams and meet deadlines
Ability to work independently and fully deliver on commitments
Work from almost anywhere with Wi-Fi
