The Operations Accountant plays a critical role in overseeing the daily operational functions of the Company, specifically managing and reviewing the accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes. This position ensures that financial operations run smoothly and accurately across the Asia Pacific region, including Singapore and Labuan. By closely collaborating with an outsourcing provider, the Operations Accountant maintains a strong focus on optimising AP and AR workflows, addressing discrepancies, and ensuring that key financial data is processed efficiently and effectively. This role is instrumental in delivering timely, high-quality operational reports that support the reporting needs of senior stakeholders and meet external regulatory requirements.
As a Senior Finance Analyst, the Operations Accountant takes a proactive approach to identify and escalate operational issues, working in partnership with internal teams and the outsourced provider to resolve challenges and meet performance expectations. The role requires significant stakeholder management, ensuring that the outsourcing provider aligns with the Company's standards and strategic goals. In addition to daily operational oversight, the Operations Accountant contributes valuable insights through analysing premium collections, cash allocations, and payment turnaround times, ultimately supporting enhanced financial processes and control frameworks for the reinsurance business.
About The Job
Oversee AR and AP functions managed by the outsourcing provider and provide timely updates to the Finance Manager.
Review all AR and AP reports from outsourcing providers and ensure follow-up actions are completed.
Review monthly credit control reports (ageing schedule) and ensure active follow-up on debtor positions.
Review credit control reports (Statement of Accounts) sent to Underwriting business units, ensuring key issues are highlighted and action points are addressed.
Review Oracle balance sheet reports (receivables and payables nominals) for accuracy and completeness, working with the outsourcing provider to resolve unreconciled and timing differences.
Review and consolidate AP and AR MI reports for completeness and accuracy in the monthly MI report.
Analyse premium collection and cash allocation trends, working with the outsourcing provider to improve process efficiency.
Analyse payment turnaround times (claims and non-claims) and collaborate with the outsourcing provider to enhance efficiency.
Address all AR and AP ad-hoc queries from underwriters and stakeholders.
Prepare budgets and forecasts.
Execute and maintain internal control frameworks.
Actively lead, support, and contribute to new business projects or initiatives.

What you'll need:
Qualified accountant or holder of an accounting/finance qualification, with solid experience in Finance or Insurance industries
Experience managing day-to-day operating processes
Team management experience
Audit experience beneficial but not essential
Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office
Experience with Oracle ERP and FCCS systems beneficial but not essential
