Responsibilities
Oversee the technical management and maintenance of assigned bulk carrier vessels, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operations.
Plan, coordinate, and supervise routine and ad-hoc repairs, as well as periodic dry dockings, to optimize vessel availability and performance.
Monitor and enforce compliance with international, flag state, and class requirements (ISM, ISPS, IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL).
Prepare, manage, and control vessel operating expenditure (OPEX) budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and financial discipline.
Conduct regular vessel inspections, generate reports, and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions.
Provide technical support and guidance to vessel crews, promoting safety culture and operational excellence.
Investigate technical incidents, analyze root causes, and execute preventive measures to minimize future risk.
Liaise with shipyards, suppliers, and contractors for the procurement of spares and services, maintaining high standards of quality and timely delivery.
Requirements
Diploma in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related maritime discipline.
Minimum 3-5 years’ experience as Technical Superintendent managing bulk carriers; Chief Engineer sea-going experience preferred.
Possession of a valid Certificate of Competency (COC) as Chief Engineer (Class 1) or equivalent is advantageous.
Sound understanding of international and Singapore maritime regulations, class, and flag requirements for bulk vessels.
Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
