Responsibilities
Performs batch / unit or ancillary operations safely and efficiently following standard operating procedures and, when needed, leads technicians in unit operations. Takes in-process samples and conducts checks using analytical instruments.
Carry out routine mechanical and lubrication checks; perform early maintenance and repairs with hand tools as required.
Handle materials using hand-pallet trucks, reach trucks, or other equipment following safety procedures.
Ensure batch and operating log sheets are correctly recorded and maintained.
Follow Good Documentation Practices and ALCOA+ principles; adhere to document error management procedures when errors are observed.
Communicate clearly with the superintendent and colleagues; hand over production status at shift end, noting safety, quality, and efficiency items.
Collaborate with technicians during process runs, assist with plant configuration during campaign changeovers or maintenance using hand-tools (e.g., filter changes, equipment replacement). Prepare plant and equipment for maintenance.
Inspect and maintain housekeeping in the assigned area; ensure PPE, safety, and fire-fighting equipment are ready for use.
Carry out fire fighting / first-aid duties as assigned and trained.
Troubleshoot plant issues using appropriate problem-solving tools to minimize stoppages and safety or quality incidents.
Raise improvement ideas and implement initiatives to support department objectives.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the superintendent, production leader, or senior technicians.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Professional
Diploma in Chemical Process Technology, Chemical Technology or Chemical Engineering
Minimum 2 years of experience in a pharmaceutical API plant
Experience in rotating shift work
Technical
Familiar with good manufacturing practices and safety procedures
Troubleshooting skills
Basic awareness of industrial standards
Knowledge of maintenance and operating principles of production and utility equipment
Plant inspection skills (for Superintendent deputy role, as needed)
Knowledge of Permit-to-Work systems and risk assessment (for Superintendent deputy role, as needed)
Correct documentation errors in accordance with existing procedures
