Overview Research Fellow / Research Engineer (Naval Architecture) - WX2role at Singapore Institute of Technology . Posting Start Date: 21/07/2025Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Develop naval architecture calculation and ship design tools based on analytical or empirical methods (e.g., stability calculation, resistance and propulsion estimation, weight estimation). Develop a practical parametric model framework for ship and system design. Carry out naval architecture calculations (stability, resistance, hydrodynamic analysis, etc.). Carry out ship hydrodynamic and CFD simulations. Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers. Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. Perform any other ad hoc duties as assigned. Job Requirements Relevant competence in naval architecture and ship hydrodynamics. Degree in Naval Architecture / Marine Engineering / Ocean Engineering or other relevant engineering field. Master's or PhD degree is advantageous. Experience in programming languages is advantageous. Experience in marine hydrodynamics is advantageous. Key Competencies Ability to develop naval architecture calculation and ship design tools. Ability to carry out ship hydrodynamic simulations. Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships within and outside the university. Self-directed learner with a commitment to continuous learning and development. Proficient in technical writing and presentation. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Shows initiative and ownership of work.
