Electrical Engineer Job

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform electrical works and maintenance onboard vessels.
  • Manage power generation, backup power sources, fire detection systems, and safety systems for 2-stroke or 4-stroke engines.
  • Assist service engineers in tasks requiring electrical expertise to operate and maintain electrical/electronic/electro-hydraulic/electro-pneumatic/automation systems efficiently.
  • Terminate vessel work and troubleshoot 4-stroke generator safety systems and electrical governors.
  • Advise on shore assistance or spare procurement for defective equipment that cannot be resolved onboard.
  • Carry out on-board attendance in liaison with the Service Manager.
  • Provide work done reports and submit them to Service Managers.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Technical Certificate.
  • Preferably 5 years of relevant work experience in Marine Electrical Industry.
  • Hands-on experience working onboard sea-going vessels as ETO (Electrical-Technical Officers) would be valuable.
  • Good knowledge of electrical power distribution, maintenance, and practical hands-on skills.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and fault diagnosis skills related to electrical, instrumentation, automation, and control, including air conditioning and ventilation systems.
  • Able to read and understand Engineering Drawings (Electrical and Pneumatic).
  • Familiar with regulatory and legislative shipping industry environments.
  • Team player able to collaborate with office technical teams and shipboard teams.
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to travel and work irregular hours as required by vessels.
