A leading proprietary trading firm is expanding its global risk team and hiring a Risk Manager with deep experience across listed derivatives—particularly options—and electronic trading environments. This is a high-impact opportunity to work across asset classes, supporting advanced trading strategies and building the internal frameworks that manage risk in real time.

You’ll work closely with traders, developers, and operations to anticipate and mitigate risk across a growing multi-asset platform. Your insight into options-specific exposures, hedging mechanisms, and algorithmic trading behaviours will be critical to ensuring trading activity remains safe, scalable, and compliant. The Opportunity

You will be responsible for identifying and managing real-time and portfolio-level risks across a dynamic trading operation—with a focus on listed options and related derivatives. You’ll provide critical input into risk architecture, escalation protocols, and tooling—while serving as a key interface between trading, technology, and external partners.

Responsibilities And Priorities

• Work directly with trading desks to understand risk exposures across complex strategies, particularly involving options
• Monitor intra-day activity and respond to live risk events across execution, hedging, and pricing
• Assess algorithmic risk and develop mitigation strategies tailored to high-frequency or event-driven options trading
• Design and refine risk tooling, alerting frameworks, and scenario modelling tools
• Investigate unusual behaviour or PnL swings and communicate findings across stakeholders
• Interact with exchanges and brokers around connectivity, controls, and reporting
• Contribute to long-term improvements of the firm’s enterprise risk platform

Requirements

You’re a hands-on risk specialist with deep exposure to options and a clear understanding of how algorithmic strategies interact with market structure. You’re calm under pressure, methodical in your thinking, and confident in advising both technical and trading teams.

Experience, Ability And Knowledge

• 6–8 years of experience in trading risk management, ideally in an HFT or low-latency trading environment
• Strong understanding of listed options, delta/gamma/theta risks, and options-based hedging mechanics
• Familiarity with risk management at the strategy, portfolio, and exchange connectivity levels

Experience And Skills

• Experience managing risk across derivatives and multi-asset strategies
• Proven track record working alongside quant traders and dev teams
• Ability to troubleshoot, escalate, and resolve risk issues in real-time

Tools, Tech And Platform Capabilities

• Experience with 3rd party risk tools (e.g., Barra, Axioma, RiskMetrics)
• Familiarity with internal or proprietary risk frameworks used in options trading environments

Qualifications, Licenses And Academic Achievements

• Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• Strong foundation in statistical inference, risk modeling, and financial markets
